MANOR COLLEGE’S BROWN (100-METERS) AND MEDINA (200-METERS) WIN SECTIONS IN WOMEN’S OUTDOOR TRACK OPENER AT PURPLE AND GOLD  INVITATIONAL

WEST CHESTER, PA—The Manor College Women's Outdoor Track and Field team opened its third season at the Purple and Gold Invitational at John A. Farrell Stadium, hosted by the NCAA Division II West Chester University Golden Rams.

Sophomore Lauren Brown (Philadelphia, PA/St. Hubert) won the first section of the 100 meters with a time of 16.43.  She became the first Manor Women's Outdoor Track and Field athlete to win a section/heat at a meet. Seniors Jessie Dupre (Philadelphia, PA/Swenson Arts and Technology) and Aidan Geiger (Glenside, PA/Abington) ran in the fourth section of the 100 and finished with times of 16.60 and 17.92, respectively.

Junior Neysha Medina (Philadelphia, PA/Constitution) ran in the third section of the 200 meters and won it with a personal-best time of 35.59.  Her time was the seventh-best overall in this event at this Invitational.  Sophomore Olivia Morton (Philadelphia, PA/St.Hubert) also ran in the 200 meters with a time of 36.38.

Medina also ran in the fourth section of the 400 and finished with a time of 1:32.26.

Manor finished with 3.0 points (15th out of 19).  This is the fourth time the Blue Jays have scored points at a meet.  They previously scored points on April 29, 2023 at the USCAA Track and Field Invitational, hosted by Hampshire College.  The last time Manor scored points during a regular season meet was on April 28, 2019 at the Delaware Open, hosted by NCAA Division I University of Delaware.

West Chester won the meet (out of the 19 schools/clubs/organizations that competed) with 139 points.  Pennsylvania State University-Schuylkill was the highest scoring USCAA, finishing 13th with 8.0 points.  Another USCAA member, Pennsylvania State University-Scranton also competed, but did not score.

Next Meet: Manor is scheduled to compete in the second day of the Danny Curran Invitational, hosted by the NCAA Division III Widener University Pride, at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium, on Saturday, March 30 in Chester, Pennsylvania.
