MANOR COLLEGE MEN’S AND WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY 2018 SEASON-IN-REVIEW

Men's Cross Country

 

2018 Season: Manor College made its collegiate debut, participating in three regular season meets: Dukes Invitational (September 8), Luzerne County Community College Invitational (October 6), and the Jack Saint Clair Memorial Cross Country Race (October 13).  The Blue Jays also participated in the Region XIX Division III Championships (October 28).

Participants: The following Blue Jays participated this season: Freshman Maurice Taylor (Philadelphia, PA/Frankford) and sophomores Jewel Funchess (Philadelphia, PA/Olney) and William Rodebaugh (Philadelphia, PA/Keystone).

2018 Opponents Notes:

2018 NJCAA/USTFCCA Pre-Season Nationally-Ranked Region XIX Division III Schools (Ranking): Rowan College at Gloucester County (10th).

2018 NJCAA 2017 USTFCCA Nationally-Ranked Region XIX Division III Schools (Week Number/Ranking): Middlesex County (1/5th, 2/3rd, 3/6th, and 4/6th), Raritan Valley (3/4th and 3/4th). Rowan College at Gloucester County (1/3rd, 2/5th, 3/7th, and 4/7th), and Ocean County College (2/10th).

National Championship-Bound Opponents: The following Manor opponents qualified for NJCAA Division III National Championships: Bergen Community College, Camden County College, Middlesex County College, Ocean County College, Rowan College at Gloucester County, and Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology.  Ocean County, who won the Region XIX Division III Championships, finished fourth in the 8K race with 200 points and a time of 2:27:54.82.  Rowan College at Gloucester County sophomore Mike Dowd finished second (27:18.47) out of 162 competitors and earned First-Team All-American Honors.  Thaddeus Stevens won the Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (EPAC) Championships.

 

Women's Cross Country

 

2018 Season: Manor College made its collegiate debut and participated in its only meet of the season at the Luzerne County Community College Invitational (October 6).  The recap for this meet can be read at this link.

2018 NJCAA/USTFCCA Pre-Season Nationally-Ranked Region XIX Division III Schools (Ranking): Camden County (10th).

National Championship-Bound Opponents: The following Manor opponents qualified for NJCAA Division III National Championships: Camden County College, Ocean County College, and Rowan College at Gloucester County.  Camden County, who won the Region XIX Division III Championships, finished sixth (out of 14) with 150 points and a time of 1:52:31.22 in the 5K race.  Camden County freshman Sara Loew finished seventh (20:03.26) out of 125 competitors and earned Second-Team All-American Honors.  There was not a Women's Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (EPAC) Champion this season.
