MANOR COLLEGE MEN’S SOCCER 2019 SEASON-IN-REVIEW

2018 Season: Manor finished the regular season 7-6-1 overall (0-4-0 in Region XIX Division I) under ninth-year head coach John Dempster.  The Blue Jays' 8-0 victory at Harrisburg Area Community College on October 13 clinched its first postseason tournament berth as a Division I program and first overall since 2013 when they were in Division III.  However, Manor lost to Harcum College in the Region XIX Division I Postseason Tournament Quarterfinals on October 20, 5-1, at The Proving Grounds in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania.

Returning Players: Manor returned the following players from the previous season: goalkeeper Aaron Chester (Pennsauken, NJ/Pennsauken) and defensemen Justin Dillon (Philadelphia, PA/Franklin Towne Charter) and Michael Schramm (Bensalem, PA/Franklin Towne Charter).

2019 NJCAA 2018 Opponents' Overall Won-Loss Record (Percentage): 93-186-10 (0.339).

2019 NJCAA 2018 Division I Postseason Tournament Opponents (Region): Essex County (XIX) (Champions), Rowan College at Burlington County (XIX) (Runners-Up), Harcum College (XIX) (Semifinals), and Mercer County Community College (XIX) (Semifinals).

2019 NJCAA 2018 Division III Postseason Tournament Opponents (Region): Middlesex County College (XIX) (Semifinals), Rowan College South Jersey-Gloucester (XIX), and Delaware County Community College (XIX).

2019 Non-NJCAA 2018 Postseason Tournament Opponents (Affiliate) (Date/s.): Pennsylvania State University-Lehigh Valley (PSUAC).

Altogether, the Blue Jays' 2019 schedule featured eight of its scheduled 16 contests versus teams who qualified for the 2018 postseason.

Manor's 2019 opponents finished with a 108-107-10 overall won-loss record (0.502).

Continued Success against Non-NJCAA Schools: The Blue Jays' victories versus United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Division II Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) members Mont Alto (2-0 on September 3) and Lehigh Valley (5-1 on September 18) and USCAA Division II member (Affiliate) Webb Institute (9-0 on October 5) improved its record versus non-NJCAA programs to 9-1-1 since 2008.  They outscored them 48 to nine with five shutouts during that time.

Series Winning Streaks: Manor continued its series success versus Harrisburg Area (15-0-0 since the 2005 season) and Lehigh Carbon Community College (13-0-0 since 2005).  Manor has won four straight versus Delaware County and are 14-2-0 since 2005.

Goals: 8 – Laudenslager.

Assists: 6 – Freshman midfielder Jonathan Ventura Garcia (Philadelphia, PA/Esperanza).

Points: 18 – Laudenslager and Ventura-Garcia.

Shots: 50 – Ventura-Garcia.

Shots on Goal: 33 – Ventura-Garcia.

Freshman goalkeeper Moussa Kallo (Philadelphia, PA/Trinity College [Moka Maraval]) played in 12 matches (11 starts).

Multiple-Goal Games: The following players contributed multiple-goal efforts:

September 14 versus Delaware County: Laudenslager (three) and Ventura-Garcia (two).

September 18 at PSU-Lehigh Valley: Laudenslager (two).

October 5 versus Webb Institute: Ventura-Garcia (three) and Dillon (two).

NJCAA Postseason Award Winners: Two Blue Jays were voted to the NJCAA All-Region XIX Team by the region's head coaches: Dillon (First Team) and Laudenslager (Second Team).  More details can be read at this link.

Postseason-Bound Opponents: The following Manor opponents qualified for NJCAA Region XIX Division I and III Postseason Tournaments: Delaware County (III), Essex County (I), Harcum (I), Lackawanna (I), Mercer County (I), Raritan Valley (III), Rowan College Burlington County (I), and Rowan College South Jersey-Gloucester (III).  PSU-Mont Alto and PSU-Lehigh Valley also qualified for the PSUAC Postseason Tournament.  Altogether, ten Blue Jay opponents qualified for the postseason.  Mercer County was the Region XIX Division II Postseason Tournament runners-up.  Essex County was the Region XIX Division I Postseason Tournament and East District Champions, qualifying for the National Tournament.

Final 2019 Regular Season Record and Region XIX Finish Manor finished the season 6-8-0 overall (0-5-0 NJCAA Region XIX Division I).  The Blue Jays are 34-57-2 overall (2-25-0 in Region XIX Division I) since moving up to Division I in 2014.
