JENKINTOWN, PA—The Manor College Men's Soccer team (7-5-1 overall, 0-4-0 NJCAA Region XIX Division I) are seeded fifth in the 2018 NJCAA Region XIX Division I Postseason Tournament, as announced by the Region's Men's Soccer Committee.
Under ninth-year head coach John Dempster, the Blue Jays have qualified for its first Division I Postseason Tournament since moving up that level for the 2014 season. This is their first Postseason Tournament appearance since 2013 when they were in Division III.
2018 Region XIX Division I Postseason Tournament: They will play the fourth-seeded Harcum College Bears (7-4-1, 2-3-0) in the Quarterfinal Round 4:00 p.m. Saturday, October 20 at The Proving Grounds in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania. The winner of this match-up will advance to the Semifinals at top-seeded and the 17th-ranked (as of the October 16, 2018 poll) Essex County College Wolverines (9-1, 4-0) 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 23 at Weequahic Park in Newark, New Jersey. The Championship will be on Saturday, October 27 at The Proving Grounds (Hosted by Harcum). The other seeds are the Mercer County Community College Vikings (17-2-0, 4-1-0) (second) and Rowan College at Burlington County Barons (7-3-0, 3-2-0) (third). Mercer County are defending Region XIX Division I Postseason Tournament Champions.
Manor College NJCAA Postseason Tournament History: Manor qualified for the 2011-2013 NJCAA Region XIX Division III Postseason Tournaments. The Blue Jays are 1-3 overall (0-1 on the road). They lost its previous Postseason Tournament game in the Semifinals at home versus Union County College, 2-1, in double overtime on October 31, 2013.
Manor College EPCC Postseason History (1993-2007): The Blue Jays qualified for the Eastern Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference (EPCC) Postseason in 1993 and from 1995 through 2007. They were EPCC Postseason Tournament Champions in 1993, 1995-2001, 2004-2005, and 2007. Manor were PCAA Champions in 1993, 1998-2001, 2005, and 2007. The Blue Jays were PCAA Runners-Up in 1997 and 2004.
Series Record versus Harcum (since 2008): The Blue Jays 0-5-0 (0-2-0 on the road) versus the Bears.
Series Records versus Potential Tournament Opponents (since 2008): Manor is 1-6-0 (1-3-0 on the road) versus Essex County. The Blue Jays are 0-5-0 versus Mercer County. They are 1-3-0 versus Rowan College at Burlington County.
Dempster on qualifying for the Postseason Tournament: "To qualify for the postseason is a great feeling, especially at this level. This will be the first time in Manor College history that one of our teams has qualified for the postseason as a division 1 school."
Dempster on Harcum College: "Harcum has a great soccer team. They play at such a high level, but they also play with class and are well coached. This game will be a challenge, but a welcomed one."
Dempster on his outlook for the Postseason Tournament: "This post season tournament looks to be an exciting one. Every team that qualified for the post season in region 19 division 1 can play well. I believe that the top four teams are very evenly matched and that can only mean that this tournament will be awesome."
