MANOR COLLEGE’S MANNY ROACH NAMED USCAA DIVISION I MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

PITTSBURGH, PA–Manor College (14-4 overall, 6-2 Eastern States Athletic Conference) sophomore guard Manny Roach (Medford, NJ/Life Center Academy) was named to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Division I Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the period February 25-March 3.

This is the first time a Blue Jay was named USCAA Division I Men's Basketball Player of the Week this season.  

Roach set the following Manor single-game USCAA records versus the 13th-ranked USCAA Division II Bucks County Community College Centurions in the ESAC Championship Game 103-80 victory on March 1:  Three-point field goals made (8) and three-point field goal attempts (18) and points (43).  He tied Manor single-game USCAA record in Field Goals Made (15).  Roach also tied career-high in total rebounds (11).  He  registered a team leading 16th double-figure scoring game this season.   Roach also contributed second "Double-Double"  (Points and Rebounds) this season.  He led both teams in first half (16) and second half (27) points.

Roach was one of two Blue Jays to start and play in all 18 games this season.  He led the team in the following categories: minutes (628), overall field goals made (113), overall field goal attempts (278) and per game (15.4), three-point field goals made(59) and per game (3.3), three-point field goal attempts (141) and per game (8.3), three-point field goal percentage (39.6), free throws made (56), free throw percentage (87.5), points (341) and per game (18.9), steals (52) and per game (2.9), and blocked shots (22) and per game (1.2).   Roach also led Manor with 15 double-figure scoring games.

Roach is the first Blue Jay Men's Basketball player to win this honor twice.  He joins the following four Manor players who were previously named USCAA Division I Men's Basketball Player of the Week award winners:

  • Cbeikh Diagne (Philadelphia, PA/Northeast): February 20-February 26, 2024
  • Roach: January 30-February 5, 2024
  • Eddie Fortescue Jr:: January 16-January 22, 2023.
  • Nasir Collins: December 13-December 19, 2022
  • Rahmaad Dejarnette: November 15-November 21, 2021
