MANOR COLLEGE’S CHEIKH DIAGNE NAMED USCAA DIVISION I MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

PITTSBURGH, PA–Manor College (11-6 overall, 5-2 Eastern States Athletic Conference) sophomore forward Cheikh Diagne (Philadelphia, PA/Northeast) was named to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Division I Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the period February 20-February 26.

This is the second time a Blue Jay was named USCAA Division I Men's Basketball Player of the Week this season.  Freshman guard Manny Roach (Medford, NJ/Life Center Academy) was named for the period January 30-February 5, 2024.  

Diagne led Manor in points (12), overall field goals made (five), and defensive (career-best tying nine) and overall rebounds (11) versus Christendom College on February 24.  He shared team lead in minutes (37) and assists (three) versus the Crusaders.  Diagne contributed a "double-double" (12 points and 11 rebounds) versus the Crusaders.  It was his second "double-double" of the season.  He led Manor in defensive rebounds (eight) and shared the team lead in with a career-best four three-point field goals made versus Central Pennsylvania College on February 20.  Diagne also set career-bests in minutes (38) and three-point field goal attempts (10) versus the Knights.

Diagne leads Manor in overall rebounds (113) and per game (6.6) this season. He is second on the team in defensive rebounds (93) and (5.5) per game.

Diagne joins the following three Manor players who were previously USCAA Division I Men's Basketball Player of the Week award winners:

  • Roach: January 30-February 5, 2024

  • Nasir Collins: December 13-December 19, 2022

  • Rahmaad Dejarnette: November 15-November 21, 2021

 

Diagne plays for third-year Head Coach Leo Mahon.

The sixth-ranked USCAA Division I Blue Jays will host USCAA Division II and ESAC foe Bucks County Community College Centurions (10-17, 3-4) on Tuesday, February 27 at 6:00 p.m.
