MANOR COLLEGE MEN’S BASKETBALL’S NAMIR SIMMONS NAMED TO PHILADELPHIA SMALL COLLEGE BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION HONOR ROLL FOR THE THIRD TIME

PHILADELPHIA, PA–Manor College Men's Basketball (9-5 overall, 3-1 Eastern States Athletic Conference) junior guard Namir Simmons (Philadelphia, PA/Academy Park) was named to the Philadelphia Small College Basketball Association (PSCBA) Honor Roll for the period February 5-February 11.

This is the third time this season Simmons has been named to the PSCBA Honor Roll.  He is the first Blue Jay to be named to this Honor Roll three times in a season since Rahmaad Dejarnette in the 2021-2022 season.

Simmons finished the game shooting 8-for-16 overall from the field after an 0-for-8 start in the 98-91 overtime home win versus Villa Maria College on February 8.  He led the team in assists (season-best seven), steals (three), and blocked shots (tying season-best two) versus the Vikings.  Simmons paced the team in scoring (10) in the second half and overtime.  He made the basket that gave Manor the lead for good with 1:51 left in overtime.  Simmons played the remaining 26:48, including the second half and overtime. second on the team with 41 minutes played. He shot a season-high 24 overall field goal attempts.  Simmons is tied for team lead with a dozen games scoring in double-figures this season.  He has five or more assists in three straight games and nine overall this season.

Simmons leads Manor in overall field goal made (106) and percentage (52.5), assists (69) and per game (4.9), and steals (34) and per game (2.4).  He has led or shared the lead team in assists in a team-best 11 games and paces the Blue Jays with seven 20-point games. Simmons shares the team lead with 13 double-figure scoring games and leading or sharing the team lead in steals in five games for the Blue Jays.  He is second on the team in overall field goal attempts (202) and points (259) and per game (18.5).

Simmons plays for third-year Head Coach Leo Mahon.

The fifth-ranked USCAA Division I Blue Jays travel to play the USCAA Division II Bucks County Community College Centurions (8-15, 2-3) on Thursday, February 15 at 7 p.m. in Newtown, Pennsylvania.
