MANOR COLLEGE NAMES HACKETT AS ITS HEAD BASEBALL COACH

JENKINTOWN, PA–Manor College Director of Athletics John Dempster announced today that Charles (P.J.) Hackett has been named as its Head Baseball Coach.

Dempster on the hiring of Hackett: "As soon as I sat down with Coach Hackett, I knew that he was the one that could put our program back on the map.  He has the baseball knowledge to build our team and to move Manor Baseball forward.  What I loved the most about P.J., was his humility and his team first attitude that will jump start this rebuild and get the Blue Jays in contention sooner than later." 

Hackett was previously the Williamson College of the Trades (United States Collegiate Athletic Association and Eastern States Athletic Conference) Associate Head Baseball Coach during the 2009 through 2023 seasons.  

The Mechanics finished sixth in the USCAA in batting average (0.319) and slugging percentage (0.454) in 2023.  They were seventh in the USCAA in on-base percentage (0.407) in 2018.  Williamson was second in the USCAA in on-base percentage (0.420) in 2017.  They led the USCAA in on-base percentage (0.452) and were 11th in batting average (0.306) in 2014. Williamson finished fourth in the USCAA in on-base percentage (0.427) in 2013.

Individually, Cody Grande (fifth) (2023), Robert Jones (14th) (2018), Jacob Dellipriscoli (third) (2015), Joe Spica (ninth) (2014), and Dan Mulvhill (11th) (2013) finished in the top-fifteen in the USCAA in batting average since 2013.  Jones (10th) (2018), Spica (ninth) (2014), Dellipriscoli (10th) (2014), Mulvhill (third) (2013), finished in the top-10 in on-base percentage since 2013.  Grande (fifth) (2023), Jones (eighth) (2018), Dellipriscoli (fourth) (2015), and Spica (16th) finished in the top-20 in slugging percentage since 2013.

In 2013, Williamson was ninth in strikeouts per nine innings (6.75) and 15th in Earned Run Average (ERA).

Individually, in eight appearances, Jon Polillo was tied for 5th in Walks plus Hits divided by Innings Pitched (WHIP) in 2019. In six games, Jereimi Ortiz led the USCAA in WHIP (1.10) and was 17th in ERA in 2018. Polillo was 19th in ERA that season in seven appearances in 2018.  Ian Whitman was fourth in WHIP and 13th in batting average against in four games in 2017.  James Muscarella was seventh in WHIP and 24th in ERA in 2017 in five appearances. Muscarella was second in WHIP in 2016 in four games.  Whitman was fourth in WHIP and fifth in strikeouts per nine innings in three appearances in 2016. Ken Tongue Jr was fourth in WHIP in five games in 2015.  Tongue Jr led the USCAA in 2014 in ERA (0.93) and WHIP (0.52) and tied for 11th in strikeouts per nine innings in four appearances. Jack Foley was third in WHIP and 11th in ERA in 2014.  In six games, Marty McKeone led the USCAA in ERA (0.83) and WHIP (0.60) in 2013.  He was third in strikeouts per nine innings, eighth in strikeouts, and tied for 25th in wins that season.

Since 2014, the following Mechanics were named to the USCAA Baseball All-Academic Team: Vince Garyantes and Joe Kelly (2023); Garyantes and Anthony Umeroglu (2022); Hunter Killinen (2021); Bryan Archambo, Killinen, and Deonta Martin (2020); Archambo, Greg Practico, and Josh Speakman (2019); Muscarella (2018); Jon Collins and Muscarella (2017); Tom Concannon (2016); Dellispriscoli and Danell Roberson (2015); and Dellispriscoli and Roberson (2014).

Since 2009, the following Mechanics were voted to the USCAA Baseball All-American Team: Grande (Honorable Mention) (2023), Jones (Second) (2018), and Joe Greenya (Honorable Mention) (2009).

He was also the Lincoln University (Pennsylvania) (NCAA) Assistant Head Baseball Coach during the 2007 through 2008 seasons. Hackett was the Lions' Hitting Coach. He coached two players that are in Lincoln's Athletics Hall of Fame: Joseph Kruemmer (Class of 2018) and Melvin Robinson (Class of 2020).   He helped with the transition from Division III to Division II.  Hackett also signed the University's first baseball scholarship player.  

Since 2014, Hackett also serves as a Camp Instructor and Partner at 3 UP and 3 DOWN Baseball Camps in Wilmington, Delaware.  He was involved in the Judy Johnson Baseball Camp which was a finalist for Minor League Baseball's "Golden Bobblehead Award" in 2020.

He received his Bachelor of Arts in Communications/Public Relations and Business Administration minor from Elizabethtown College (Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania) in 1993. He also received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration/Management Information Systems concentration from Goldey-Beacom College (Wilmington, Delaware) in 2002.

Hackett currently resides in Wilmington, Delaware.

Manor begins its third season overall in 2024 and its first as an USCAA and ESAC member.
