MANOR SHUT OUT IN NON-CONFERENCE BY THE COUNTY COLLEGE OF MORRIS

RANDOLPH, NJ—NJCAA Region XIX Division II County College of Morris Titan (18-9) sophomore Andrew Case and freshman Jared Vuz combined to blank the Manor College Blue Jays (3-12), 10-0, in seven innings, in a non-conference game.

Manor had at least one baserunner in every inning. The Blue Jays' 13 hits marked the fourth time in five games they had double-digit hits.

Morris scored two runs in the first on a RBI one-out double by freshman Austin Chambers and two-out ground out by freshman first baseman Vincent DiNicola.  The Titans scored a run in the second on a two-out RBI single by freshman catcher by Kyle Bargfrede.  Sophomore first baseman Patrick O'Hare led off the third with a home run.  Freshman second baseman Daniel Ruggiero knocked in a run with a one-out sacrifice fly.  Freshman left fielder Nate Miller hit a one-out, two-run home run in the fifth.  The Titans scored a run in the sixth.  Morris scored two runs in the seventh, including a one-out run-scoring single by freshman right fielder Nolan Leger.

Batting Leaders: Freshman center fielder Shawn Vega (Philadelphia, PA/Olney Charter) and sophomore first baseman Hector Morales (Philadelphia, PA/Esperanza Charter) each went three-for-four.  Sophomore second baseman Sauriel Baez (Philadelphia, PA/Esperanza Charter) went two-for-three.  Sophomore right fielder Cristian Diaz (Philadelphia, PA/Franklin Towne Charter) went one-for-three with a walk for the Blue Jays.

O'Hare went two-for-three and Leger went two-for-four.  Miller scored twice and contributed two RBI.  Ruggiero walked twice and scored two runs.

Pitching Leaders: Freshman Yadier Cedeno (Philadelphia, PA/Olney Charter) (0-4) started the game.  Sophomores Courtney Maddox (Philadelphia, PA/Edison) and Abdur Mujahid (Philadelphia, PA/Boys Latin) finished the game in relief for the Blue Jays.

Case (2-1) started the game for Morris, throwing for the first five innings.  Vuz finished the game in relief, striking out three in two innings.

Next Game: Manor hosts the NJCAA Region XIX Division III Bucks County Community College Centurions on Saturday, April 6 at Lighthouse Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at Noon.  This is the first meeting between the two schools.

Next Road Game: Manor travels to play the NJCAA Region XIX Division III Atlantic Cape Community College Buccaneers on Sunday, April 7 at Surf Stadium in Atlantic City, New Jersey at Noon.  This is the first meeting between the two schools.

About Surf Stadium: Surf Stadium (aka "The Sandcastle") was the former home of the Atlantic City Surf from 1998 through 2008.  The field's dimensions are 309 feet to left and right fields and 400 to center.  The Surf played in the independent Atlantic (1998-2006) and Canadian-American (2007-2008) leagues.  They were also charter members of the Atlantic League.  The Surf won two South division titles (2002 and 2005) and the league's inaugural championship in 1998.  They also reached the Canadian-American postseason semifinals in 2007 and 2008.
