JENKINTOWN, PA–Manor College Director of Athletics John Dempster announced today that Michael Cianci has been named as its Head Women's Basketball and Women's Volleyball Coach.

Dempster on the hiring of Cianci: "When I first spoke with Coach Mike, I said to myself, 'He gets it.'  He knows how to build a program and most importantly, he knows how to build relationships.  With this coaching style and his passion for the sport, I know we will succeed."

Cianci's previous coaching experience includes being the Lead Assistant Coach for the Reading Rebels, a Semi-Professional Men's Basketball Team that plays in The Basketball League (TBL) in Reading, Pennsylvania (2024).  The Rebels finished their 2024 regular season with a 19-5 win-loss record in the Atlantic Northeast Division in the Eastern Conference and qualified for the postseason and their first ever home playoff game.  Prior to that, Michael coached Varsity Girls High School Basketball for three seasons at Coventry Christian Schools, where he was given his first coaching opportunity in 2021.

Cianci is also a 15 and Under AAU Girls' Head Coach for the Moore Brothers Elite Brand out of Plymouth Whitemarsh, Pennsylvania.  As an AAU Head Coach, his teams won numerous first place finishes over the past several seasons.  Cianci previously played for Plymouth Whitemarsh High School and was a 1997 PIAA AAAA (State) and 1998 PIAA AAAA (District 1) Champion.

He credits much of his success to his former Hall of Fame coaches, Jim Donofrio and Al Angelos, who were role models in his youth.

Cianci is also the Owner/Founder of the Chesco GRIT High School Basketball Travel Team.  Founded in February 2024 as a Christian Team, they won their first national competition in the High School "A" Division at the National Christian Scholastic Athletic Association (NCSAA) Tournament at NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) Mount Vernon Nazarene University in Mount Vernon, Ohio in March 2024.

As a professional, Cianci has been an attorney for 15 years and a Certified Public Accountant for 20 years.  He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice in 2003 and Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 2022 from West Chester University (West Chester, Pennsylvania).  He received his Juris Doctorate with Magna Cum Laude Honors from the Widener University School of Law (Chester, Pennsylvania) in 2009.

Manor Women's Volleyball begins its 32nd season overall in 2024 and its third as an United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) member on Tuesday, September 17 on the road versus the Cheyney University Wolves at the Glen Mills School Rec Center at 6 p.m. in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania.
