MANOR COLLEGE’S TORRES BREAKS MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY SCHOOL DISTANCE RECORD IN DEBUT AT THE DAN TALBOT OPEN

MEDIA, PA—Manor College freshman Jacob Torres (Mays Landing, NJ/Cedar Creek) set a Blue Jay Men's Cross Country distance record in his debut at the Dan Talbot Open at Rose Tree Park, hosted by NCAA Division III Bryn Mawr College.

Torres ran a 36:25.2 in the 8,000-meter distance, breaking William Rodebaugh's mark of 41:20.33 in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XIX Division III Championship on October 28, 2018 at White Clay State Park in Newark, Delaware.  He was the only Manor College runner competing in this meet.  Manor did not score in the event.

University of Scranton (NCAA Division III) junior Timothy Lanahan won the individual race in 26:25.8 out of 91 competitors.  Scranton won the meet with 17 points.  They also finished with a total time of 2:17:59.

The following NCAA Division III schools also participated in this meet (including Scranton): Bryn Athyn College, Cabrini University, Drew University, Neumann University, Pennsylvania State University-Abington, Rosemont College, Rutgers University-Camden, and University of Valley Forge. 

Manor and Pennsylvania State University-Schuylkill were the only USCAA participating schools in this meet.

The following NJCAA Region XIX Division III schools participated in this meet: Camden County College, Harrisburg Area Community College, Rowan College South Jersey-Gloucester, and Williamson College of the Trades.

Rutgers Running Club and Valley Forge Military College were the only unaffiliated teams participating in this meet.

Next Meet: Manor is scheduled to participate in the Jack St. Clair Memorial Cross Country Race on Saturday, October 15 at 1:00 p.m. at the Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
