MANOR COLLEGE MEN'S SOCCER EDGES PENN STATE-LEHIGH VALLEY IN ITS ROAD OPENER

JENKINTOWN, PA—Manor College (2-1-0) junior midfielder Eddie Fortescue Jr. (Blue Bell, PA/Wissahickon) registered two goals as the Blue Jays defeated United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) and Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) Division II Pennsylvania State University-Hazleton (4-2-0), 2-1, in its road opener.

Manor scored twice in the first 15 minutes of the match when John Levy's (Philadelphia, PA/Franklin Towne Charter) pass outside of the 18-yard line went to Fortescue Jr.  Fortescue Jr.'s header when into the right side of the net for his fourth goal of the season (8:56).  Fortescue Jr. took advantage of a Lehigh Valley turnover inside the 18 and kicked it into the middle of the net for second goal of the match and his fifth of the season (14:34).  This was the second time in three matches that Fortescue Jr. had multiple goals.  Manor led at halftime for this first time this season, 2-0.  The Nittany Lions outshot the Blue Jays, 12 (five on goal) to five (two on goal).

Lehigh Valley scored its second-half goal when junior Jerrod Younes' shot inside the 18 went into the middle of the net (87:33).  The Nittany Lions outshot the Blue Jays, nine (three on goal) to two (one on goal) in the second half, and 21 (eight on goal) to seven (four on goal) for the match.

Series Record: The Blue Jays lead the season series, 5-0-0 (3-0-0 on the road).

Manor versus the PSUAC (Since 2008): Manor is 9-0-1 overall (6-0-1 on the road) versus the PSUAC.

Road Openers (Since 2008): The Blue Jays are 5-8-1 in road openers and are 3-1-1 since 2017.

Next Match: Manor hosts National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III and Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) member University of Valley Forge (1-4-0 as of September 20) on Thursday, September 22 at 3:30 p.m. in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania.  This the first match-up between the Blue Jays and Patriots.

Next Road Match: Manor travels to play National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XIX Division III Lehigh Carbon Community College (2-4-1 as of September 20) on Saturday, October 1 at Noon in Schnecksville, Pennsylvania.  The Blue Jays are 7-0-0 (3-0-0 on the road) versus the Cougars since 2008.  Manor won the previous overall match-up, 4-2, at Lehigh Carbon on October 12, 2019.
