JENKINTOWN, PA—Manor College Athletics dates back to the Spring of 1960 when the Women's Basketball team played Holy Family.  In its continuing series, Manor Athletics will look back at the memorable games and moments in the College's history.  Today's moment features Men's Soccer goalkeeper Thomas Hipwell (Cheltenham, PA/Cheltenham) giving the Valedictorian Address at the College's 66th Commencement on May 18, 2017.

The Manor College's web site article introduction can be found at this link.  The remainder of the article and video of Hipwell's Valedictorian Address can be found at this link.

Blue Jays Director of Athletics and Men' Soccer Head Coach John Dempster on Hipwell and him giving the Valedictorian Address: "Thomas was one of the most dedicated athletes I have ever coached.  He was focused and had lofty goals, but, if you knew Thomas, you knew he would reach them.

When we found out that Thomas was going to be the Valedictorian, I teared up because he put athletics on the academic map.  He became the first athlete in college history to become Valedictorian, and, he was a soccer player.  Our ultimate goal is to produce scholar-athletes and Thomas paved the way."
