MANOR WOMEN’S BASKETBALL DEFEATED BY  LACKAWANNA COLLEGE

JENKINTOWN, PA—Lackawanna College (9-0 Overall, 6-0 Region XIX Division II) sophomore guard Laquana Nagbe and freshman forward Taylor-Rae Styles led both teams with 16 points each as the Falcons defeated the Manor College Blue Jays (5-3, 1-2), 82-42.

The Falcons opened up a 5-0 lead on baskets by sophomore forward Quieterriua Gross (jump shot with 9:37 left) and freshman guard Mileisha Troche (three-point basket with 8:35 remaining).  The Blue Jays responded on freshman guard Kiara Stoval's (Chester, PA) three-point basket with 7:46 left.  After Kellicia Brown (Philadelphia, PA) sank a jumper with 6:45 left, Lackawanna scored 10 straight points over the next 5:16 and opened up an 18-5 lead with 1:29 remaining.  During this run, freshman forward Colleen Cwalina's pair of free throws gave the Falcons its first double-digit advantage of the game (16-5).  They would maintain a double-digit edge for the remainder of the contest.  This run was finished by Rae-Styles' put-back basket off of a missed shot.  Lackawanna led 23-9 after the first quarter.

Gross' layup with about 0:17 left in the half gave the Falcons its largest lead of the half (41-20).  Lackawanna outscored Manor, 18-11, in the second quarter and led 41-20 at halftime.

After sophomore guard/forward Jaquay Williams (Philadelphia, PA) sank a pair of free throws with 5:31 remaining in the third quarter, the Falcons scored 17 consecutive points to finish off the quarter and led 70-33.  Lackawanna outscored Manor, 29-13, in the third.

The Falcons outscored the Blue Jays, 12-9, in the fourth quarter and 41-22 in the second half.

Individual Statistical Leaders: Stoval led Manor with 13 points and Williams scored 10.  Freshman guard Alize Felton (New Castle, DE) paced the Blue Jays with seven rebounds and both teams with five steals.

Troche also scored 14 for Lackawanna.  Sophomores Ariana Sanders (forward) and Paris Thompson (guard) led both teams with eight rebounds.  Sophomore guard Ciani Ballard paced both squads with six assists.

Series Record: The Blue Jays are 8-12 overall (4-6 at home) versus the Falcons.  Lackawanna has won seven straight in this series and eight of nine overall.  Manor lost five consecutive home meetings versus Lackawanna.

Next Game: Manor hosts Delaware Technical Community College-Stanton (2-10 Overall, 1-6 Region XIX Division II) 5:00 p.m. Thursday, December 7 in a Region XIX Division II match-up.  The Blue Jays are 14-6 overall (8-2 at home) versus the Spirit.  Manor swept the 2016-2017 season series.  The Blue Jays won on the road, 74-52, on November 10, 2016 and at home, 89-58, on February 19, 2017.  Manor has won eight straight overall and the last four home meetings versus Delaware Technical Community College-Stanton.
