MANOR WOMEN’S BASKETBALL DEFEATS CAMDEN COUNTY COLLEGE

JENKINTOWN, PA—Manor College (2-0 Overall) freshman guard Alize Felton (New Castle, DE) scored 20 points and contributed six steals and three assists as they defeated the Division III Camden County College Cougars (3-1), 69-56, in a non-conference match-up.

The Cougars opened up a 9-7 lead following a sophomore guard Asya Alba's jump shot and free throw in successful possessions.  Blue Jays sophomore center/forward Kellicia Brown (Philadelphia, PA) sank a three-point basket that gave them the lead for good (10-9) with 2:13 remaining in the opening quarter.  Manor finished the final 2:49 on a 9-1 run and led Camden County, 16-10, after the first quarter.

The Blue Jays' run continued into the first 1:16 of the second quarter and expanded its lead to 21-10 on sophomore guard/forward Jaquay Williams' (Philadelphia, PA) three-point basket with 8:44 left.  Altogether, the Blue Jays went on a 14-1 over a 4:05 stretch over parts of two quarters.  Manor thrice more took 11-point leads (23-12, 25-14, and 27-16) in the second quarter.  Camden County finished the final 4:19 of the first half on an 8-3 run and held the Blue Jays to one field goal made during this stretch.  The Cougars' run allowed them to close the gap to six at halftime (30-24).  Manor outscored Camden County in the second quarter, 14-11.  Brown led both teams with 10 points.

Camden County's run continued into the beginning of the third quarter.  Sophomore forward/center Layne Olsen's layup and free throw with 8:53 remaining in the third quarter got the Cougars within three points (30-27).  This was the closest Camden County got to Manor for the remainder of the game.  Altogether, the Cougars went on an 11-3 run over a 5:26 stretch over parts of two quarters.  Manor answered with a 16-2 run over a 7:12 stretch.  Freshman guard Kiara Stoval's (Chester, PA) jump shot off of a Felton three-point miss gave the Blue Jays a 17-point advantage (46-29) with 1:41 left in the third quarter.  Manor outscored Camden County, 20-11 in the third quarter and led 50-35.

Manor took its largest lead of the game early in the fourth quarter.  Felton's layup and free throw with 9:46 remaining gave the Blue Jays an 18-point lead (53-35).  Camden County responded with an 11-3 run over the next 3:04, held Manor to one field goal during that period, and closed the deficit to 10 (56-46) with 6:42 left on freshman guard Mia Lewis' three-point basket.  The Blue Jays answered back with an 8-4 run during a 2:47 and expanded its lead to 14 (64-50) on Felton's three-point field goal with 4:05 remaining.  Manor finished off its scoring on Stoval's three point-basket with 0:07.5 seconds left.  The Cougars outscored the Blue Jays, 21-19, in the fourth quarter, but, Manor won the game, 69-56.  Felton scored 11 points and Stoval added 10 in the second half for the Blue Jays.  Lewis led both teams with 15 points and Olsen contributed 13 in the second half for the Cougars.  Lewis and Olsen combined to score 28 of Camden County's 32 second-half points.

Individual Statistical Leaders: Williams scored 16 points.  Brown added a "double-double" with 13 points and 15 rebounds.  Stoval contributed 12 points. The Blue Jays shot 50.0% from the field

Defensively, Manor held Camden County College to 39.0% field goal shooting and forced 24 Cougar turnovers.

Lewis led both teams with 24 points and 15 rebounds.  Olsen scored 18 points.

Series Record (since 2002-2003, but, the 2003-2004 season is unavailable): The Blue Jays are 3-0 versus the Cougars.  This is the first time Manor hosted Camden County in this series.
