Lady Blue Jays Have Two Wins This Season But Fall to Lackawanna College 73 – 87

The Lady Jays were off to a great start of their season, grabbing two wins against Raritan Valley Community College and Valley Forge Military College.  On Saturday, November 23, the Lady Jays travelled up to the Scranton area to play Lackawanna College and put up a really great fight.

Head Coach, Robert Reeves says, "I knew that it was going to be a very aggressive game, offensively and defensively.  The girls had to come out and play as a team, not just individuals."

In the first half, the Lady Jays were trailing behind Lackawanna by 16 points, and they knew they had to start executing offensively in order to get back into this game.  Going into the second half, team captain, Dom Williams came in and made three back-to-back three point shots, making the Blue Jays only down by 9 points.

Coach Rob says, "We came out in the second half very aggressive. We started to execute offensively and that jump-started the come back. We need to bottle this second half and play this way for every game going forward. If we do those thing we will be very difficult to beat."

Williams led the Blue Jays with 26 points, while Mohargany Jones led the team in rebounds with 16 rebounds and 10 defensive rebounds.

Williams says, "We had a few struggles as a team during this game.  Our turnovers and defense was a weak point, but we will be working on that for the rest of our season."

In the second half, the Lady Jays netted 54 points, while Lackawanna netted 52, but it wasn't enough to get the "W" – so the Lady Jays had to drive back home short.

Coming up on the Thanksgiving holiday, Williams says that the team will not be sitting around eating Turkey all weekend. "We will be working out, running and practicing on our shots over the break."

Looking forward, the Lady Jays play against Burlington Community College on Tuesday, December 2 at Burlington.  Follow all scores of our Manor Blue Jays by following the hashtag #manorbluejays.
