MANOR COLLEGE’S LATE GOAL DEFEATS ROWAN COLLEGE AT GLOUCESTER COUNTY

JENKINTOWN, PA—Manor College's (4-1-1) late second-half goal completed a second-half comeback as they defeated the NJCAA Region XIX Division III Rowan College at Gloucester County Roadrunners (2-4-0), 3-2.

Gloucester County freshman midfielder Justin Phy scored the only goal of the first half in the seventh minute.  Roadrunner sophomore back Logan Jackson's pass went to Phy inside the 18-yard line.  Phy's shot went into the left side of the net.  Manor outshot Gloucester County 10 (five on goal) to five (three on goal) in the first half.

Manor tied the match in 49th minute.  Blue Jay freshman midfielder/forward Preston Gray's (Bristol, PA/Truman) chip shot on the right side of the 18 went to freshman midfielder/forward Julio Hernandez (Philadelphia, PA/Fels).  Hernandez' head shot went into the left side of the net at tied the match for his third goal of the season.  Following a Manor foul inside the 18 in the 56th minute, Phy's penalty kick hit the right post and went out of bounds.  The Blue Jays took the lead in the 66th minute.  After a Gloucester County foul inside the 18, freshman midfielder Kelvin Siem's (Upper Darby, PA/Absegami [NJ]) penalty kick went into the net for his fourth goal of the season.  The Roadrunners tied the match in the 73rd minute.  Sophomore midfielder Andrew Sooy's pass went to sophomore back Robert Norton around the 18. Norton's shot went into the right of the net.  Manor scored the game-winning goal in the 82nd minute.  Siem's shot on goal inside the 18 went off of freshman goalkeeper Nikolas Anagnou.  The rebound went off of a Gloucester County defender and into the net.  The Blue Jays outscored the Roadrunners 3-1 in the second half, en route to the 3-2 victory.  Manor outshot Gloucester County in the second half, 14 (eight on goal) to 12 (nine on goal), and for the match, 24 to 17.

Series Record:  Manor leads the season series, 4-3-2 (3-1-1 at home), breaking a three-match losing streak.  This was also the first time the Blue Jays defeated the Roadrunners since they moved up to Division I for the 2014 season.  Manor last won versus Rowan College at Gloucester County on September 8, 2012 (3-0 at Gloucester County.  The Blue Jays previously defeated the Roadrunners at home on September 10, 2011 (3-1).

Next and Home Match: Manor hosts Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) member Pennsylvania State University-Lehigh Valley Noon Saturday, September 15.  The Blue Jays are 1-0-0 versus the Nittany Lions.  Manor won the inaugural meeting, 2-1, on October 4, 2017 in its previous meeting at Center Valley, Pennsylvania.  This is Penn State-Lehigh Valley's first visit to Manor.
