MANOR COLLEGE MEN'S SOCCER SHUT OUT HARRISBURG AREA COMMUNITY COLLEGE, 5-0

JENKINTOWN, PA—Manor College (8-8-1) freshman midfielder Ausuava Oghenero scored two goals and contributed three assists and as the Blue Jays blanked Division III Harrisburg Area Community College Hawks (3-8-0), 5-0.

The Blue Jays opened up the scoring in the 17th minute.  Oghenero passed right to freshman forward Zola Makanda from inside the 18-yard line to the six.  Makanda kicked into the open net past Harrisburg Area freshman goalkeeper Brian Riedel for his team-leading 10th goal of the season.  Oghenero registered his fifth assist of the season.  Manor increased the lead to 2-0 in the 20th minute on a freshman midfielder Nicholas Martinez pass from outside the 18 to Oghenero.  Oghenero kicked into the net for his eighth goal of the season and Martinez contributed his eighth assist.  The Blue Jays finished the first-half scoring in the 27th minute off of a corner kick.  Oghenero passed it right to Martinez beyond the 18.  Martinez kicked it past Riedel into the right-hand corner of the net for his fifth goal of the season.  Oghenero added his second assist of the game and six of the season.  Manor led 3-0 at halftime and outshot Harrisburg Area, 13 (nine on goal) to five (three on goal).

Manor made it 4-0 in the 71st minute on the second Martinez-to-Oghenero goal of the game.  Martinez passed from outside the 18 to Oghenero on the inside the 18.  Oghenero kicked into the right for his second goal of the game and ninth of the season.  Martinez added his second assist of the contest and team-leading ninth of the season.  The Blue Jays closed out the scoring in the 89th minute.  Oghenero shot the ball into the air from the right side of the 18.  Sophomore defenseman Arthur Greenwood head shot went into the left side of the net for his first goal of the season and third of his career.  Oghenero contributed his third assist of the contest and seventh of the season.  Manor outscored Harrisburg Area, 2-0, in the second half, en route to the 5-0 win.  The Blue Jays outshot the Hawks, nine (five on goal) to two (one on goal), in the second half. Manor also outshot Harrisburg Area for the game 22 (14 on goal) to nine (four on goal) for the game.

Individual Game Statistical Leaders: Oghenero led Manor with five shots overall.  He also paced both teams with four on goal.  Caire made four saves and won his seventh game of the season.  Harrisburg Area forwards Mohamed Mohamed (sophomore) and Cameron Sensenig (freshman) each led the team with three shots overall. Sensenig also paced the Hawks with three shots on goal.

Final Regular Season Home Game for Six Sophomores: This was the final home regular season game for six Manor sophomores:  Caire; defensemen Jon Cabrera, Seykou Camara, Greenwood, and Damian Schweizer; and Hirschman.

Single-Season Individual Milestone: Makanda became eighth Blue Jay to score 10 or more goals in a season since 2005.  The last Manor player to score 10 goals in a season was freshman Abraham Kamara who contributed 10 in 2015.

Single-Game Individual Milestone: Oghenero is the first Blue Jay with three assists and seven total points in a game this season.  The last Manor player with three assists in a game was done by sophomore midfielder Mark Colville (six) and freshman Damilare Adeleye (three) versus Harrisburg Area on September 28, 2013.  The last Blue Jay with seven points in a game was done by freshman forward Abraham Kamara and sophomore midfielder Louis Antoine (three goals and an assist each) at Lehigh Carbon Community College on September 19, 2015.

Shutout Notes: The Blue Jays registered its second shutout of the season (both at home).  Manor previously registered multiple shutouts in 2015 when they had three (also all at home).

The Defense Rests: Manor has allowed two or fewer goals in a game 11 times this season and posted a 7-3-1 record.

Home Field Advantage:  The Blue Jays finished the regular season with a 6-2-0 home record.  Manor's six home wins are the most since moving up to Division I for the 2014 season.  Furthermore, this was the most wins at home for the Blue Jays since 2013, when they won seven.

Series Notes:  Manor leads the season series versus Harrisburg Area, 10-0-0 (since 2004).  The Blue Jays have outscored the Hawks, 91-9, in this series, including five shutouts overall.  Manor is 6-0-0 at home versus Harrisburg Area since 2005 and have outscored them, 46-3, including four shutouts.

Next Game: Manor travels to Region XIX Division I Essex County College 4:00 p.m. Monday, October 16 in Newark, New Jersey for its final regular season game.  The Wolverines are 3-0-1 in Region XIX Division I play this season.  Essex County leads the season series 5-1-0.  The Blue Jays lost to the Wolverines at home in its previous overall meeting, 4-1, on October 13, 2016.  Manor lost at Essex County in its previous road meeting, 3-1, on September 11, 2014.
