PETERSBURG, VA—The 2024 United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Division I Men's Basketball Small College National Tournament Consolation Bracket game preview between the seventh-seeded Manor College Blue Jays (12-7 overall, 6-2 Eastern States Athletic Conference) and the eighth-seeded University of Maine-Fort Kent Bengals (11-14) at Richard Bland College of William and Mary (National Junior College Athletic Association Region X Division II) in Petersburg, Virginia.
Manor is making its second USCAA Men's Division I Basketball Small College National Tournament in the last three seasons. Buffalo will be making its fifth consecutive appearance. The Bobcats were Runners-Up in the 2022 and 2023 National Tournaments.
This will be the first match-up between the two schools.
Manor lost in the Quarterfinal versus the second-seeded Bryant and Stratton College-Buffalo Bobcats (22-9), 87-66, on March 10 at Richard Bland. The Blue Jays previously played in the 2022 Tournament as the fifth seed. They lost to Bryant and Stratton College-Albany (71-61) on March 7 in the Quarterfinals and The Apprentice School (86-71) on March 8 in the Consolation Round. The Blue Jays were 3-6 overall (1-3 at neutral sites) in six NJCAA Region XIX Division II Postseason Tournament appearances. Manor was also 12-13 overall (1-2 at neutral sites) in 13 Eastern Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference (EPCC) Postseason Tournaments between 1995 and 2008 (2002 information is unavailable). Their last postseason win was on March 7, 2016 when they defeated the Raritan Valley Community College Lions in the NJCAA Region XIX Division II Semifinals, 87-73. Since 1995, the Blue Jays are 15-22 overall in 21 Postseason Tournaments (except for 2002).
Fort Kent lost in the Quarterfinal to the number one seed The Apprentice School Builders (23-5), 96-79, on March 10, at NCAA Division II Virginia State University in Petersburg. They were scheduled to play in the 2020 USCAA Small College National Championship Tournament, but the tournament was canceled due to COVD-19. The Bengals are 3-6 in four National Tournament appearances since 2012 (2012, 2017, 2018, and 2019). They are 1-1 in the Consolation Bracket.
