MANOR COLLEGE MEN’S BASKETBALL LOSES TO CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA COLLEGE IN ELECTRIC CITY CONSOLATION GAME

SCRANTON, PA—United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Division II Central Pennsylvania College (1-4) junior guard/forward Quadere Allen led both teams with 27 points as the Knights defeated Division I Manor College (2-2), 90-78, in the Electric City Consolation Game, hosted by NCAA Division III Marywood University.

This game did not count towards the Eastern States Athletic Conference (ESAC) win-loss record.

Central Pennsylvania never trailed during this contest.  They scored the game's first 10 points in the first 2:43 of the contest. The Knights led by double-digits for most of the first half. They led by as much as 48-28 with 2:35 left on Allen's jump shot with an assist by sophomore guard Zaheim Lewis.  Manor scored the final 13 points of the first half to close the gap to seven, 48-41.  The Blue Jays got within single digits, 48-41, on a freshman center Cristeph Lamothe (Philadelphia, PA/Camelot Excel Academy) layup (with an assist by junior forward Jarid Vertil [Willingboro, NJ/Rahway) and free throw with 23 seconds remaining.  Central Pennsylvania led at halftime, 48-41.  Allen led both teams with 17 points. 

The Knights opened up another double-digit lead, 53-43, with 18:10 left in the game on Allen's layup.  They increased their lead to 63-49 with 13:59 remaining on Allen's three-point basket with an assist by junior guard Anthony McClinton. Manor closed the deficit to single-digits for the first time in the second half, 63-54, with 12:40 left on junior guard Namir Simmons' (Philadelphia, PA/Academy Park) layup with an assist by junior guard Shyere Mayhue (Philadelphia, PA/People for People Charter).  Central Pennsylvania went back to a double-digit lead again, 66-54, with 12:21 remaining on sophomore guard Connor Jenkins' three-point basket with an assist by junior forward Jordan Strickland.  The Knights took its largest lead of the game (78-62) with 8:39 left on Jenkins' three-point basket with an assist by Allen.  The Blue Jays went on a 10-3 run over the next 4:26 and got within single-digits, 81-72, with 4:13 remaining on Simmons' layup.  They were within single-digits again, 83-74, with 2:49 left on senior guard Eddie Fortescue Jr's (Blue Bell, PA/Wissahickon) layup with an assist by Simmons. Freshman guard/forward Kaeden Campbell's free throws with 2:36 left gave the Knights a double-digit lead again (85-74) and remained there for the rest of the game.  Central Pennsylvania outscored Manor in the second half, 42-37. Allen and Strickland (Central Pennsylvania) and Manor sophomore forward Cheikh Diagne (Philadelphia, PA/Northeast) scored 10 points each.

Marywood University (4-2) defeated USCAA Division II SUNY-ESF (2-6), 107-75, in the Electric City Championship.  

Statistical Leaders: Diange led Manor with 19 points.  Vertil registered his first career "double-double" with 15 points and a team-leading 10 rebounds.  Simmons scored 15 for the Blue Jays.

In addition to Allen, Campbell contributed a "double-double" with 16 points and a team-leading 11.  Strickland added another Knight "double-double" with 13 points and 10 rebounds.  Junior guard Rodney Ross scored 10 points and paced Central Pennsylvania with seven assists.

Season Series (Since 1994-1995): Since the 1994-1995 season, Manor leads the season-series 25-4 overall (12-4 on the road/neutral sites). Since joining the USCAA for the 2021-2022 season, the Blue Jays lead the season series, 2-2 (0-2 on the road/at neutral sites). 

Manor Versus USCAA Division II (Since 2021-2022): Since joining the USCAA, Manor is 8-12 overall (1-5 at neutral sites) versus USCAA Division II schools.

Manor in In-Season Tournaments (Since 2021-2022): The Blue Jays are 3-7 overall in In-Season Tournaments (3-6 at neutral sites) since joining the USCAA.

Next Game: Manor plays NCAA Division III Cairn University (2-1) on Monday, November 20 at 7:00 p.m. in Langhorne, Pennsylvania.  This series is tied at two (2-2 on the road).  The Highlanders won 91-70 on November 21, 2022 in Langhorne.
