MANOR MEN’S BASKETBALL LOSES TO RARITAN VALLEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE IN REGION XIX DIVISION II CONTEST

JENKINTOWN, PA—Raritan Valley Community College (8-10 overall, 7-3 Region XIX Division II) freshman guard Goddy Marc came off the bench and led both teams with 25 points (including seven three-point baskets) as the Lions defeated the Manor College Blue Jays (9-9, 6-3), 102-91.

Raritan Valley led at halftime, 54-43.  Marc led both teams with 23 first-half points.  Sophomore guard Rick'Keem Mixson added 11 points for the Lions.  Both teams scored 48 points in the second half.  Sophomore forward/center Robert Tucker (Philadelphia, PA/Paul Robeson) led both teams with 15 second-half points.  Mixson and freshman guard Rob Terry paced the Lions with 13 points each.

This was the Blue Jays' first home game back from Winter Break. 

Individual Statistical Leaders: Tucker led Manor with 23 points, 14 rebounds (which led both teams), four steals, and two blocked shots.  Sophomore guard/forward Taleek Anderson (Philadelphia, PA/Frankford) scored a season-high 17 and paced the Blue Jays with a season-best four assists.  Sophomore guard Jewel Funchess (Philadelphia, PA/Olney) scored a season-high 17. Sophomore guard DaShawn Hockaday (Philadelphia, PA/Dobbins) came off the bench and tied his season-high with 13 points for the Blue Jays.

Mixson scored 24 points and added 10 rebounds, six assists, and a team-best four steals.  Terry contributed 13 points and led both teams with 11 rebounds and nine assists.  Freshman forward Malachi Gayton added 12 points.  Freshman forward Pierce Kokosinski came off the bench and scored 12 points for the Lions.

Manor 2019-2020 Double-Figure Scoring Leaders: Tucker (12); Anderson (8), Rodgers (6); Diaz, Funchess, Hockaday, and Rodriguez (4 each); Alvarez (2); and freshman guard Malik Clark (Philadelphia, PA/Boys' Latin) and Staten (1 each).

Series Record: The Blue Jays are 12-14 overall (6-7 at home) versus the Lions.  Raritan Valley have won three of its last four games at Manor.

Next Game: Manor travels on the road to play NJCAA Region XIX Division II County College of Morris 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 25, 2020 in Randolph, New Jersey.  The Blue Jays are 12-11 overall (5-6 on the road) versus the Titans.  Manor won the previous meeting, 94-78, at home on November 9, 2019.  The Blue Jays lost the previous road meeting, 109-85, on January 12, 2019.
