MANOR MEN’S BASKETBALL LOSES TO NATIONALLY-RANKED COMMUNITY COLLEGE OF PHILADELPHIA IN NON-CONFERENCE GAME

JENKINTOWN, PA—Community College of Philadelphia (13-1 overall) freshman guard Amir Woods led both teams with 26 points (including five three-point baskets) and seven assists as the NJCAA Division III seventh-ranked Lions defeat the Manor College Blue Jays (7-8), 79-70.

Philadelphia led at halftime, 47-31.  Sophomore forward/center Robert Tucker (Philadelphia, PA/Paul Robeson) led the Blue Jays with 14 points.  Manor outscored Philadelphia, 39-32, in the second half.  Sophomore guard/forward Taleek Anderson (Philadelphia, PA/Frankford) led the Blue Jays with 12 second-half points.

The loss snapped Manor's four-game overall and three-game home winning streaks.

This was also the Blue Jays' final game before Winter Break.

Individual Statistical Leaders: Tucker led Manor with 18 points.  Anderson scored 12.  Sophomores Yochua Diaz (guard/forward) (Philadelphia, PA/Dobbins) and DaShawn Hockaday (guard) (Philadelphia, PA/Dobbins) scored 11 and 10 points, respectively, off the bench.  Freshman guard Jeremiah Staten (Chicago, IL/Hillcrest) paced the Blue Jays with six assists.

Freshman forward Cameron Gardner scored 11 points.  Freshman guard Tyreek Johnson contributed 10 points.  Freshman forward Elijah Cintron scored 10 points coming off the bench for the Lions and led both teams with four blocked shots..

Manor 2019-2020 Single-Game Scoring Leaders (including ties): Tucker (7), Rodgers (3); and sophomore forward Manuel Alvarez (Reading, PA/Governor Mifflin) and sophomore guard Anthony Rodriguez (Philadelphia, PA/Frankford) (1 each).

Series Record (since 1994-1995, but, the 2001-2002 season is unavailable): Manor is 10-28 overall (5-11 at home) versus Philadelphia.  The loss snapped a three-game home winning streak versus the Lions.  Philadelphia previously won at Manor on December 6, 2006 (80-78).

Next Game: Manor travels on the road to play NJCAA Region XIX Division II Rowan College at Burlington (2-12 Overall, 1-6 Region XIX Division II) 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 9, 2020 in Pemberton, New Jersey.  The Blue Jays are 10-13 overall (1-10 on the road) versus the Barons.  Manor won the previous meeting, 74-63, at home on December 12, 2019.  The Blue Jays lost the previous road meeting, 79-77, on November 10, 2018.

Next Home Game:  Manor hosts NJCAA Region XIX Division II Raritan Valley Community College 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2019.  The Blue Jays are 12-13 overall (6-6 at home) versus the Lions.  Manor won its previous meeting versus Raritan Valley, 86-72, on the road on December 7, 2019.  The Blue Jays lost the previous home meeting, 120-109, in overtime, on November 27, 2018.
