MANOR MEN’S BASKETBALL LOSES TO REGION XV DIVISION I MONROE COLLEGE IN WEEKDAY HOME MATINEE

JENKINTOWN, PA—Monroe College-New Rochelle (2-0 Overall) sophomore guard Juan Felix Rodriguez led the team with 19 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, and three steals as the Mustangs defeated the Manor College Blue Jays (1-4), 99-71, in a non-conference matinee.

Monroe took the lead for good in the first half, 9-7, with 14:33 remaining on freshman forward Jeremiah Kendall's layup (with an assist by freshman forward Marcus Thompson).  Monroe took its largest lead, 40-20, with 0:51 left, on freshman guard's Akeem Tate's three-point basket (with an assist by Rodriguez).  Monroe led at halftime, 40-20, and outscored Manor in the second half, 59-51.  The Mustangs' Rodriguez and Blue Jays' freshman forward/center Kureese Rodgers (Philadelphia, PA/Frankford) scored 12 second-half points each.  Manor sophomore guard/forward Taleek Anderson (Philadelphia, PA/Frankford) contributed 11 second-half points.  Kendall contributed 10 second-half points for Monroe.

Individual Statistical Leaders: Rodgers led the Blue Jays with 15 points.  Sophomore forward/centerRobert Tucker (Philadelphia, PA/Paul Robeson) scored 14 points and led both teams 12 rebounds.  Anderson contributed 12 points for the Blue Jays.

Monroe freshman forward Julio Pascual scored 12 points.  Kendall and Thompson scored 15 and 12 off the bench, respectively for the Mustangs.

Series Record (since 1994-1995, but, the 2001-2002 season is unavailable): Manor is 0-2 versus Monroe.  The Blue Jays are 1-4 overall (1-2 at home) versus Region XV schools.

Next Game: Manor travels on the road to play NJCAA Region XIX Division III Valley Forge Military College 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 14 in Wayne, Pennsylvania.  The Blue Jays are 8-1 overall (5-0 on the road) versus the Trojans.  Manor lost its previous meeting to Valley Forge Military, 78-74, at home on February 10, 2018.  The Blue Jays won its previous road match-up, 85-84, on December 11, 2017.  This is the first meeting between Manor and Valley Forge Military since the Trojans moved to Division III for the 2018-2019 season.

Next Home Game:  Manor hosts NCAA Division III Gywnedd Mercy University Junior Varsity 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 21.  This is the first time the two schools are playing each other since the Blue Jays joined the NJCAA for the 2008-2009 season.  Manor is 9-5 overall (1-0 at home) versus Junior Varsity teams since the 2008-2009 season.
