MANOR MEN’S BASKETBALL VICTORIOUS IN FINAL HOME GAME OF THE SEASON VERSUS ROWAN COLLEGE AT BURLINGTON COUNTY

JENKINTOWN, PA—Manor College (8-16 Overall, 5-9 Region XIX Division II) freshman center Robert Tucker (Philadelphia, PA/Paul Robeson) led the Blue Jays with 18 points, 14 rebounds and five blocked shots as the Blue Jays defeated the Rowan College at Burlington County Barons (13-13, 6-7), 78-65.

This was a make-up game from Tuesday, February 12, 2019 due to inclement weather.

Before the start of the game, sophomores Carl Robinson (forward) (Jenkintown, PA/Jenkintown) and Jose Romero (guard) (Philadelphia, PA/Frankford) were recognized for the achievements.

The Barons led at halftime, 35-32.  Manor outscored Burlington County, 44-30, in the second half, en route to the victory.  Tucker led both teams with 12 second-half points.  Freshman guard Maleek View (Philadelphia, PA/Central) added 10 points for the Blue Jays.  Sophomore guard Fred Young paced the Barons with 12 second-half points. 

Manor has won five of the six games in February after a winless January (0-6) and starting the season at 3-15.

Manor finished 4-7 at home during the 2018-2019 season.  They won three of the last four home games after starting the season at home at 1-6.  This is the first time the Blue Jays finished with a losing home record since the 2012-2013 season (5-6).  They are 70-41 since they began playing in the NJCAA for the 2008-2009 season.

Individual Statistical Leaders: View scored 14 points and led Manor with five assists.  Sophomore guard Jewel Funchess (Philadelphia, PA/Olney) contributed 13 points and paced the Blue Jays with four steals.  Freshman guard Jeff Alvarez (Reading, PA/Governor Mifflin) came off the bench to score 10 points.

Young led the Barons with 18 points.  Sophomores Chris Swiney (guard) scored 12 points and Devin Matchett (forward) added 10 for Burlington County.

Series Record (since 2008-2009): The Blue Jays split the season series versus the Barons.  They are 9-13 overall and 7-3 at home versus Burlington County.

Trailing at Halftime: Manor is 4-9 when trailing at halftime this season (including 1-3 at home).

Manor versus Region XIX Division II at Home: The Blue Jays finished 3-4 this season at home versus Region XIX Division II schools.   Manor is 23-7 since the 2014-2015 season.  They are 48-37 since joining the NJCAA for the 2008-2009 season.

Next Game: The Blue Jays finish the regular season on the road at NJCAA Region XIX Division III Community College of Philadelphia 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 19 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Manor is 9-27 versus the Colonials (since the 1994-1995 season, but, 2001-2002 season is unavailable).  They are also 4-17 on the road, including five straight road losses.  Manor previously won at the Community College of Philadelphia on December 10, 2005 (79-69).  The Blue Jays won the previous match-up this season, 87-85, on November 2, 2017 at Manor.  Manor lost the previous road match-up, 83-80, on January 7, 2016.
