MANOR MEN’S BASKETBALL DEFEATED BY ESSEX COUNTY COLLEGE

JENKINTOWN, PA—Essex County College (12-9 Overall, 6-7 NJCAA Region XIX Division II) sophomore guard Isaiah Jones led the Wolverines with 20 points as they defeated the Manor College Blue Jays (5-16, 4-9), 69-55.

The Wolverines led at halftime, 37-26.  Jones paced both teams with 12 points.  Freshman guard Nazir Maxwell contributed 11 points.  Essex County outscored Manor, 32-29, in the second half.  Freshman center Robert Tucker (Philadelphia, PA/Paul Robeson) led both teams with 12 second-half points.

Individual Statistical Leaders: Tucker led Manor with 20 points and four blocked shots.  Sophomore forward Carl Robinson (Jenkintown, PA/Jenkintown) scored 15 points and paced the Blue Jays with 10 rebounds and four steals.  Freshman guard Maleek View (Philadelphia, PA/Central) contributed 10 points for the Blue Jays

Maxwell scored 17 points and fellow freshman guard Jahreal Cadogan added 12 for Essex County.

Series Record (since 2008-2009): Manor, who split the season series are 7-17 overall, including 5-6 at home, versus Essex County.  The Blue Jays saw its four-game overall winning and home winning streaks snapped versus the Wolverines.  Manor previously lost to Essex County, 83-73, on November 19, 2016 in Newark, New Jersey.  The Blue Jays previously lost at home versus the Wolverines, 126-95, on February 15, 2014.

Trailing at Halftime: Manor is 3-9 when trailing at halftime this season (including 0-3 at home).

Manor versus Region XIX Division II at Home: The Blue Jays are 2-4 this season at home versus Region XIX Division II schools.   Manor is 22-7 since the 2014-2015 season.  They are 47-37 since joining the NJCAA for the 2008-2009 season.

Next Game: The Blue Jays host NJCAA Region XIX Division II Rowan College at Burlington County 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 12.  They are 8-13 overall (since 2008-2009) versus the Barons, including losing four of the previous five match-ups.  Manor is 6-3 at home versus Burlington County.  The Blue Jays lost the first match-up this season, 79-77, on November 13, 2018 in Pemberton, New Jersey.  Manor won the previous home match-up, 98-83, on December 14, 2017.
