MANOR MEN’S BASKETBALL ROUTS DELAWARE TECHNICAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE-STANTON

JENKINTOWN, PA—Manor College (5-15 Overall, 4-8 NJCAA Region XIX Division II) freshman center Robert Tucker (Philadelphia, PA/Paul Robeson) led both teams with 26 points, 15 rebounds, and five blocked shots as the Blue Jays defeated the Delaware Technical Community College-Stanton Spirit (0-21, 0-11), 109-77.

The Blue Jays led at halftime, 60-41.  Tucker led both teams with 15 points at halftime.  Manor's 60 first-half points are a season-high in either half.  Sophomore guard Jewel Funchess (Philadelphia, PA/Olney) added 13 first-half points.  Spirt freshman small forward Justin Craigg led the squad with 10.  The Manor outscored Stanton in the second half, 49-36 en route to the victory.  Freshman center guard DaShawn Hockaday (Philadelphia, PA/Dobbins) led both teams with 13 second-half points.  Tucker added 11.  Sophomore shooting guard/small forward Darius Jackson paced Stanton with 11 points.

Manor's 109 points tied a single-game season-high.  The Blue Jays also scored 109 in a home overtime loss versus Raritan Valley Community on November 27, 2018.  The 32-point victory is the largest overall and at home since December 16, 2017 versus Essex County (108-48).

Individual Statistical Leaders: Tucker also shot 12 for 18 from the field.  Including Tucker, six Blue Jays scored in double-figures: Funchess (17), freshman forward Yochua Diaz (Philadelphia, PA/Dobbins) (16), Hockaday (15), freshman guard Maleek View (Philadelphia, PA/Central) (13), and sophomore forward Carl Robinson (Jenkintown, PA/Jenkintown) (12).  View also contributed 10 rebounds and led both teams with seven assists.  Hockaday paced both squads with five steals.

Craigg and Jackson led Stanton with 19 points each.  Sophomore point guard/shooting guard Kharee MacElree added 14 points and freshman point guard/shooting guard Anthony Davis contributed 13 for the Spirit.

Surpassing the Century Mark: This is the third time this season that the Blue Jays have scored over 100 points this season.  They have scored 100 or more points in a game 27 times since joining the NJCAA for the 2008-2009 season.

Holding on after Halftime: Manor improved its record to 2-7 when leading at halftime this season (including 2-4 at home).

Manor versus Region XIX Division II at Home: The Blue Jays are 2-3 this season at home versus Region XIX Division II schools.   Manor is 22-6 since the 2014-2015 season.  They are 47-36 since joining the NJCAA for the 2008-2009 season.

Series Record (since 1994-1995, but, the 2001-2002 season is unavailable): Manor, who swept the season series are 11-11 overall, including 8-3 at home.  The Blue Jays have won nine straight overall versus Stanton.

Next Game: The Blue Jays host NJCAA Region XIX Division II Essex County 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 9.  They are 7-16 overall versus the Wolverines, including four straight wins.  Manor is also 5-5 at home versus Essex County, including four consecutive victories.  The Blue Jays won the first match-up this season, 78-70, on November 17, 2018 in Newark, New Jersey.  Manor also won the previous home match-up, 108-48, on December 16, 2017.
