MANOR MEN’S BASKETBALL LOSES TO NATIONALLY-RANKED COMMUNITY COLLEGE OF BEAVER COUNTY

JENKINTOWN, PA—Community College of Beaver County (9-1) sophomore guard Malik Archer came off the bench, leading both teams with 29 overall and 19 second-half points, as the nationally-ranked Titans defeated the Manor College Blue Jays (2-9), 94-91.

Community College of Beaver County is a Region XX member and plays at the Division II level.  They are ranked 10th in the latest NJCAA Division II poll (as of December 11).

Manor led at halftime, 51-43.  However, the Titans outscored the Blue Jays in the second half, 51-40, in the second half. 

Individual Statistical Leaders: Four Blue Jays (including three of the starters) scored in double figures.  Guards Jewel Funchess (sophomore) (Philadelphia, PA/Olney) and, coming off the bench, Taleek Anderson (freshman) (Philadelphia, PA/Frankford) each led Manor with 19 points.    Freshman center Robert Tucker (Philadelphia, PA/Paul Robeson) contributed a "double-double" with 17 points and a team-leading 11 rebounds.  Freshman guard Maleek View (Philadelphia, PA/Central) added 14 points.

In addition to Archer, four Titans scored in double figures (including all three of its starters).  Freshman point guard Tymair Johnson added 25 (including 16 in the second half.  Archer and Johnson combined to score Beaver County's 35 of the 51 second-half points.  Freshman forward Tyrese Robinson contributed 11 points.  Freshman forward Tyree Corbett came off the bench to score 10 points.

Series Record (since 1994-1995, but, the 2001-2002 season is unavailable): Manor and Beaver County are meeting for the first time.

Manor versus Region XX: Manor is 8-9 versus Region XX schools (6-5 at home) since the 2008-2009 season.  The loss broke a four-game winning streak versus Region XX.

Manor versus Nationally-Ranked Teams: The Blue Jays are 4-24 overall (4-10 at home) against nationally-ranked teams since the 2008-2009 season.  They are 3-17 versus nationally-ranked Division II schools (including 3-6 at home).  This is the first time this season Manor has played a nationally-ranked team.  They previously played a nationally-ranked team on February 17, 2018 (97-79 loss at Lackawanna College).  The Blue Jays previously hosted a nationally-ranked team on February 11, 2017 (75-73 win versus Essex County College).

Next Game: Manor hosts Region XIX Division II Bucks County Community College Noon Saturday, December 15.  This is the first meeting between the two schools as Division II programs.  This is also Bucks County's first season as a Division II program after previously playing at Division III.  The Blue Jays are 15-3 versus the Centurions, including 8-1 at home (since 1994-1995, but, the 2001-2002 season is unavailable).  Manor last played Bucks County on December 15, 2016 (89-50 win at home).  This is the final game before the Blue Jays go on its Holiday Break.
