MANOR MEN’S BASKETBALL DEFEATED IN OVERTIME BY MERCER COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE

JENKINTOWN, PA—Mercer County Community College (6-4 Overall, 5-0 NJCAA Region XIX Division II) sophomore guard Donovon Guess led the Vikings with 19 points as they defeated the Manor College Blue Jays (2-8, 2-4), 94-90, in overtime.

Manor led at halftime, 50-41.  However, the Vikings outscored the Blue Jays in the second half, 36-27, in the second half, and 17-13 in overtime.

Individual Statistical Leaders: Five Blue Jays (including four of the starters) scored in double figures.  Freshman center Robert Tucker (Philadelphia, PA/Paul Robeson) led both teams with 24 points and 16 rebounds.  The other double-figure starters were as follows: Freshmen Taleek Anderson (guard) (Philadelphia, PA/Frankford) (16 points), Maleek View (guard) (Philadelphia, PA/Central) (12), and Yoshua Diaz (forward) (Philadelphia, PA/Dobbins) (10).  Freshman guard Jewel Funchess (Philadelphia, PA/Olney) came off the bench to score 14 points.

In addition to Guess, six Vikings scored in double figures (including all five starters).  Sophomore guard John Evans scored 17 points for Mercer County.  Sophomore guards Jamir Jenkins (16 points and six assists) and Julian Thompson (16 points and led both teams with seven assists) also scored in double figures.  Sophomore guard Adnan Bajrami contributed a "double-double" with 15 points and paced the Vikings with 11 rebounds.  Freshman guard Letrell Randall came off the bench to score 11 points.

Series Record (since 1994-1995, but, the 2001-2002 season is unavailable): Manor is 12-11 at home versus Mercer County, including 7-4 at home.  The loss broke a six-game overall series winning streak, including three straight at home.

Manor in Overtime Games:  The Blue Jays have played three of the last five games in overtime, including two of the previous three at home.  They are 2-12 in overtime (2-8 at home) since the 2011-2012 season.  The three overtime games this season are the most since the 2013-2014 season when played in four.

Next Game: Manor hosts Region XX Division II Community College of Beaver County 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 6.  This is the first meeting between the two schools.  Manor is 8-8 versus Region XX schools (6-4 at home, including four straight wins) since the 2008-2009 season.
