MANOR MEN’S BASKETBALL WINS IN THE FINAL SECONDS VERSUS CECIL COLLEGE

JENKINTOWN, PA—Manor College (17-10) sophomore guard Keithantonio Davis' (Sicklerville, NJ/Eastern) go-ahead layup and free throw with 2.1 seconds left gave the Blue Jays a 100-97 victory versus the Region XX Division II Cecil College Seahawks (13-16).

After Cecil College freshman guard Cornell Corbin's layup (with an assist by sophomore guard/forward Jordan Griggs) that got the Seahawks within 7-6, with 18:05 left in the first half, Manor responded.  The Blue Jays scored eight straight points in 1:31 and opened up its first of three nine-point leads (its largest of the game), 15-6, on Davis' layup off of a turnover with 16:34 remaining.  Manor went on another run after Griggs' slam dunk with 11:40 left that got Cecil College within 22-19 with 11:40 remaining.  The Blue Jays went on a 10-4 run (over a 4:08 stretch) and opened up its second nine-point advantage, 32-23, on freshman guard Isaiah Wiggins' (Pocono Mountain, PA/Pocono Mountain West) layup off of a missed shot with 7:32 left.  Freshman guard Kobe Ancrum's (Bridgeport, CT/Bassick) layup with 7:07 remaining gave Manor its third and final nine-point lead, 34-25.  The Seahawks got as close as one point four times (42-41, 45-44, 47-46, and 50-49) between 2:57 and 1:05 left in the first half.  The Blue Jays led at halftime, 53-51.  Freshman guard/forward Amir Hill (Philadelphia, PA/Parkway) led both teams with 19.  Griggs paced Cecil College with 17 first-half points.

Manor maintained its lead for nearly the first seven minutes of the second half.  Griggs' three-point basket, with an assist by freshman guard Jonathan Falko, with 13:12 remaining, gave the Seahawks its first lead, 68-67.  After the Blue Jays briefly retook the lead, 69-68 on freshman guard Dana Strothers' (Pittsburgh, PA/Obama Academy) layup with 12:46 left, Cecil College took the lead for the second time on Corbin's layup with 12:23 remaining.  The Seahawks led as much as by 77-72 on another Corbin layup with 10:46 left.  This completed a 17-7 run over a 5:09 stretch.  Manor retook the lead, 78-77, with 9:09 remaining on a pair of Strothers free throws.  This was the first of five lead changes and three ties over the next 3:06.  Cecil College took its final lead of the game, 85-83, with 6:44 left on freshman forward Carl Bradley's jump shot.  The Blue Jays responded again and went on a 12-2 run over the next 2:19 and took a 95-87 lead with 4:25 remaining on a Davis free throw.  The Seahawks answered with a 10-2 run over the next 4:19 and tied the game at 97 on Falko's jump shot with 0:06.5 left.  Following Falko's jump shot, Davis made a layup, and was fouled by Griggs with 0:02.1 remaining.  Following a Cecil College full time out, Davis made his free throw to complete three-point play, and Falko's game-tying three-point attempt at the buzzer went over the left side of the rim.  Manor outscored Cecil College in the second half, 47-46, en route to the 100-97 victory.  Strothers led both teams with 18 second-half points.

Individual Statistical Leaders: Hill led the Blue Jays with 25 points.  Davis contributed 18 and Wiggins added 16 points.  Strothers came off the bench and scored 20 points.

Griggs paced both teams with 28 points.  Corbin and Bradley added 17 and 11 points, respectively.  Falko came off the bench and scored 22 points.

Final Home Regular Season Game for Three Sophomores: This was the final regular season home game for three Manor sophomores: Ancrum, Davis, and forward Antonio Willis (Newark, NJ/Newark).

Home Sweet Home: The Blue Jays are 11-3 at home this season.  This the fourth straight seasons with 10 or more home wins.  Manor has posted five consecutive non-losing home seasons and six of its last seven.  They are 44-10 since the 2013-2014 season, including 16-5 versus non-conference schools.  The Blue Jays are 24-5 at home under second-year head coach Diallo Daniels.

100-Point Game Notes: This the sixth time this season Manor has scored 100 points in a game and the 24th since joining the NJCAA for the 2008-2009 season.  The six 100-point games this season are the most since joining the NJCAA.  The Blue Jays have 55 100-point games since the 1994-1995 season (2001-2002 season is unavailable).  Manor is 20-4 in 100-point games since joining the NJCAA, including 16-1 at home.  The Blue Jays have eight 100-point games under Daniels. 

Series Record: The series is tied at three.  Manor is 2-1 at home versus Cecil College.

Manor versus Region XX: The Blue Jays are 8-8 overall, including 6-4 at home, versus Region XX.  They have won four straight overall and three consecutive at home.
