MANOR MEN’S BASKETBALL DEFEATS  DELAWARE TECHNICAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE-STANTON

JENKINTOWN, PA—Manor College (8-3 Overall, 3-0 Region XIX Division II) guards Keithantonio Davis (sophomore) (Sicklerville, NJ/Eastern) and Dana Strothers (freshman) (Pittsburgh, PA/Obama Academy) came off the bench to score 18 points each as the Blue Jays defeated the Delaware Technical Community College-Stanton Spirit (5-10, 2-5), 86-80.

Manor opened the game with an 11-2 lead with 16:02 remaining in the first half.  Freshman forward Anthony Thomas' (Chester, PA/Chester) jump shot off of his own miss finished off the run.  After Davis' three-point basket gave the Blue Jays its largest lead of the game (18-8) with 12:57 left, Delaware Technical Community College-Stanton scored nine straight over the next 2:07, and closed the gap to one point (18-17) on freshman guard Deonte Hicks' jump shot.  The Spirit took its first lead of the game, 30-28, on freshman forward's Elias Revelle's layup and free throw with 7:06 remaining.  Manor answered and scored seven straight over the next 2:24 and took a 35-31 lead.  Strothers' layup with 4:41 left completed this run.  The Blue Jays finished the first half on a 10-5 run over the final 4:35 and led 45-38 at halftime.

Thomas' hook shot off his own miss gave Manor a 49-40 edge with 18:56 left in the second half.  Delaware Technical Community College-Stanton answered with a 17-8 run over the next 6:16, and took a 57-55 lead.  Freshman forward Anthony Watson's layup off of a turnover with 12:40 remaining broke the 55-all tie and finished the run.  Freshman center Jordan Dancy broke a 58-all tie with under 12 minutes left and the Spirt maintained as much as a four-point lead three times over approximately the next four minutes.  Then, both teams exchanged leads four times in nearly a 90-second stretch.  Revelle's three-point basket gave the Spirit its final lead of the game, 73-71, with about six-and-a-half minutes remaining.  The Blue Jays responded and scored nine straight between 5:43 and 2:38 left in the second half (3:05) and took an 80-73 lead.  Freshman guard/forward Amir Hill's (Philadelphia, PA/Parkway) three-point basket gave Manor the lead for good during this run, 76-73, with 3:17 remaining.  The Blue Jays expanded its lead twice to seven (82-75 and 84-77 with 2:08 and 1:16 left, respectively) on a Strothers layup and Davis' free throws, respectively.  The Spirit got as close as four points (84-80) on three Watson free throws with 0:32.6 left.  Delaware Technical Community College-Stanton outscored Manor in the second half, 42-41, but, the Blue Jays won 86-80.

Individual Statistical Leaders: Thomas scored 16 points and led Manor with eight rebounds.  Hill contributed 13 points.  Davis also paced the Blue Jays with seven assists.  Freshman guard Isaiah Wiggins (Pocono Mountain, PA/Pocono Mountain West) led Manor with three steals.

Hicks and Revelle paced both squads with 24 points each.  Revelle also led both teams with 10 rebounds and paced the Spirit with three steals.  Hicks also led Delaware Technical Community College-Stanton with seven assists.  Freshman forward Brahin Riley paced both squads with three blocked shots.

Series Record: The Spirit lead the season series 11-8 overall, but the Blue Jays have won six straight contests.  Manor is 5-5 at home versus Delaware Technical Community College-Stanton, including four consecutive victories.

Next Game: Manor hosts Raritan Valley Community College (6-2 Overall, 3-1 Region XIX Division II) 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 9.  The Lions lead the season series 11-9 overall and won two of the previous three games.  Manor is 5-5 at home versus Raritan Valley Community College.  The Lions won two of the three matchups during the 2016-2017 season.  The Blue Jays won at home, 63-61, on February 4, 2017.  Manor lost on the road, 94-76, on November 10, 2016 and at home, 85-68, on March 4, 2017 in the NJCAA Region XIX Division II Postseason Tournament First Round.
