Men's Basketball Falls to Monroe Community College 83-74
Dec 9, 2015

Last week on December 4th, our Blue Jays took on ranked 6th in the nation, Monroe Community College in our home gym. While the Blue Jays did not get a win, this close game showed many promising moments from our men's team.

According to Head Coach Johnson, "The season so far is going well. We are currently 4-2 and had lost a heart-breaker in double overtime to Valley Forge, a team ranked 14th in the country and we lost to Monroe in a very good game and they are ranked 6th in the country."

Coach Johnson also comments on the Monroe game saying, "I was excited and nervous. I thought was a great opportunity to attract national attention for our program. Our young guys played well. Although we lost, our coaching staff was extremely happy with the effort."

Coach Johnson says, "Things are going great for the team for our defense. The guys are making a conscious effort to defend and rebound, which are 2 key components in winning. With that said, we still need to work on our defense. We can always get better."

The standouts of this game, were Steffon Poole, Kuante Sargent and Javan Smith. Stefan Poole led the Blue Jays with 19 points, Thomas Farrior Jr with 12 points, Kuante Sargent with 12 points and Javan Smith with 12 points. Poole guarded whoever was their best player on the court at the time and still had energy to add 19 points and 10 rebounds. Sargent and Smith both displayed their athleticism and all around skill set that will help both the team and themselves moving forward.

Coach Johnson says, "This team has super guard play and our overall ability to defend should get us a few more wins."

Coming up next the Blue Jays will take on Delaware Technical & CC/Stanton-Wilmington in their home gym tomorrow night at 7pm.
