Blue Jays Dig Deep to Beat Raritan Valley

Coach Johnson said that, “In the days leading to the Raritian Valley game, our coaching staff talked to the team about Raritian being undefeated and a very good basketball team.”  The Blue Jays knew that they had a tough game because of RV’s reputation and season after season success.    RV is a very talented offensive team, and the Blue Jays found themselves stringing together a series of nice defensive stops throughout the game.

Player, Thomas Farrior says, “We had to play more aggressive on defense and have to take care of the ball. Also, we had to play more like a team.”

It was the Blue Jays team play that led them to an 11 point win over RV, and that is keeping them undefeated in the early season so far.

Player, Marcus Glover who had an “outstanding game” according to Coach Johnson says, “That he is trying to keep himself and the entire team humble, and that if the team works on their defensive game, then the Blue Jays will be a very good game.”

Some of the standout players of this game against RV were Rodney Saxon with 11 points and 14 big-time rebounds, Martez  Lyles did a great job running the team, Johnathan Richardson, in his first game as a Blue Jay was superb with 15 points, 15 rebounds and 1 blocked shot.

The Blue Jays are currently 5-0 and are hoping to continue this winning streak.  Coming up on Sunday, the Blue Jays will travel to Lackawanna College.  The Blue Jays next home contest is on Tuesday, November 25th at 7 p.m. against Frederick Community College.
