Blue Jays Defeat Union CC in a Nail Biter, 81-78

Coach Johnson says, "The game against Union was a tight game throughout mainly due to our inability to protect the basketball."

The Blue Jays had 14 turnovers in the 1st half of the game, giving Union two points for the lead. Coach Johnson says, "When did a better job of avoiding careless turnovers in the second half which is why we were able to pull away."

Forward, Khalil Williams netted 19 points and eight rebounds alongside forward Johnathan Richardson who got 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Coach Johnson says, "Key players for us during this game was our frontcourt players Richardson, Williams and Shaquille Ford who added 12 points and fove rebounds. Those three shot 20-29 amongst themselves. That is 68% of our points, which is impressive."

Other key players in this game was guard Marcus Glover who has 16 points and five rebound and Tyrone Legree with nine points and three rebounds.

Coach Johnson says, "Some of the good moments during the game for us were the stretches when our defense was solid. No risk-taking, no being out of position and simply contesting shots."

Coming up this week, the Blue Jays will take on Essex County College on Saturday, January 17 in our home gym at 3 p.m. – so come on out and support our Blue Jays!

"This week in practice we are thoroughly working on our defense, our ability to reduce turnovers and understanding how good we can be as a team, when we play inside/ out basketball," said Coach Johnson.
