Men’s Basketball beats Valley Forge Military College by 20

This past weekend our Men’s Basketball team went up against Valley Forge Military College and played their hearts out. During the first half of the game, Head Coach, Mike Mahon said, “We weren’t pressuring the ball that well, and we were down by 5 points going into halftime.”

Team Captain, Avery Brown was leading the team in points, and finished the game with 17 points and 6 assists.  It wasn’t until the second half that the Blue Jays really started to pick it up and started making better shots.  Sophomore, Mark Perez, led the team in assists, making 7 assists and was 4-5 in free throws made.

Mahon says, “We shared the ball a lot better in the second half, getting 19 assists, and just were making better shots.”

During the second half, the Manor Blue Jays stepped up their defensive game, giving Valley Forge 18 points, while scoring 43 of their own.  The Blue Jays put the pressure on Valley Forge, and they couldn’t handle it.  In the words of Mahon, “Manor executed” on Saturday, and it was a great game to set them up for a busy week of tough games.

Tonight our Blue Jays take on Salem Community College, and if the Blue Jays win tonight, they will take third place in the NJCAA Region 19 Division II.

“We have to go out and play hard with lots of energy,” says Mahon.

Come out and cheer on our Blue Jays tonight, as they take on Salem Community College at 7:00pm in our home gym.
