MANOR COLLEGE’S FORTESCUE JR AND TORRES NAMED TO THE  USCAA BASEBALL ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM

DUBOIS, PA—Manor College senior infielder-outfielder-pitcher Eddie Fortescue Jr (Blue Bell, PA/Wissahickon) and sophomore outfielder Jacob Torres (Mays Landing, NJ/Cedar Creek) were named to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Baseball All-Academic Team.  It was announced at the Small College World Series Home Run Derby at Showers Field.

According to the USCAA web site: "This award recognizes the student-athletes (sophomore or greater) who have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or greater."

Fortescue Jr played in 14 games.  He led the Blue Jays in stolen bases (13) and attempts (15) and assists (20) while playing six positions.  He was second on the team in runs (9), hits (12), singles (11), total bases (15), batting average (0.300), and slugging percentage (0.375).  Fortescue Jr shared the team lead in relief appearances (4) and among team leaders with nine strikeouts and 9 ⅓ innings in relief.  He hit Manor's first USCAA home run in game one of a doubleheader at Williamson College of the Trades on April 7.  Fortescue Jr split time at third base (9 games), shortstop (8), pitcher (4), center field (3), first base (2), and second base (2).  He was previously named to the 2021-2022, 2022-2023, and 2023-2024 USCAA Division I Men's Basketball All-Academic Teams.  Fortescue Jr was also previously named to the USCAA Division I Men's Soccer All-Academic Teams in 2021, 2022, and 2023.  He will graduate with a Sport Management degree and was recently selected as the Student Speaker representing the Bachelor's Degree students at Manor College's Commencement on May 16.

Torres played in 15 games.  Defensively, he played 11 games in right field.  Torres had the go-ahead RBI in the game one doubleheader win versus NJCAA Region XIX Division III Delaware County Community College in Manor's first USCAA game on March 9.  Torres was also named to the 2023 USCAA Division I Men's Soccer All-Academic Team.  He will graduate with an Associate's Degree in Sport and Recreational Management at Manor's Commencement on May 16.

Fortescue Jr and Torres play under first-year Head Coach Charles "P.J." Hackett. The Blue Jays finished its first USCAA and Eastern States Athletic Conference (ESAC) regular season.
