MANOR COLLEGE BASEBALL LOSES GAME TWO OF AN ESAC ROAD DOUBLEHEADER VERSUS CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA COLLEGE

HARRISBURG, PA—United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Central Pennsylvania College (18-10 overall, 10-2 Eastern States Athletic Conference) scored runs in all of the innings they batted, as the Knights defeated the Manor College Blue Jays (1-12, 0-9) in game one of a doubleheader, 12-2, in five innings, at Susquehanna Township Baseball Field at Susquehanna Middle School.

Manor scored first in the top of the first inning.  Freshman second baseman Manny Roach (Medford, NJ/Life Center Academy) led off the game with an infield single to sophomore Cameron Smiley.  Roach advanced to second on a sophomore starting pitcher Colby Criswell. Senior third baseman Eddie Fortescue Jr (Blue Bell, PA/Wissahickon) advanced Roach to third on a two-out fly out to sophomore right fielder Gabe Kaufman.  Roach scored on a senior catcher Zachary Haefner passed ball.  

Central Pennsylvania took the lead with three runs in the bottom half of the inning.  Senior designated hitter Zach Boyer's no-out double to left fielder Yerlad Duran (Philadelphia, PA/Abraham Lincoln) scored junior center fielder Jefrandy Montero and Kaufman, and gave the Knights a 3-1 lead.

The Knights added to its lead in the second.  Junior second baseman Owen Zell walked with one out and stole second and third.  Montero's two-out sacrifice fly to freshman center fielder Jimmy Garcia (Philadelphia, PA/Community Academy of Philadelphia) scored Zell and gave Central Pennsylvania a 4-1 advantage.

The Blue Jays closed within a run in the top of the third.  Roach walked with two outs.  Duran's single to Kaufman advanced Roach to second.  Fortescue Jr reached on a fielder's choice to sophomore third baseman Harvey McClain III.  McClain III's throwing error scored Roach on the play.  Fortescue stole second and Duran scored Haefner's error.  

Central Pennsylvania scored three in the third.  They batted around in the fourth and scored six runs, including four with two outs.

Batting Leaders: Roach scored two runs.

Zell walked twice, stole two bases, scored three runs, and knocked in three runs.  Montero had two hits and two RBI.  Freshman third baseman Tanner McCoy stole two bases and scored two runs. Freshman left fielder Tyrone Tobin knocked in two runs and scored twice. Boyer contributed two RBI.  Senior right fielder Nick Fulton scored two bases.

Pitching Leaders: Criswell (2-1) pitched three innings, struck out five and allowed two hits.  Sophomore Jordan Spadafore finished the game, pitched two scoreless relief innings, struck out two and allowed a hit and a walk.

Season Series: Manor is 0-3 overall versus Central Pennsylvania (0-3 on the road).

Manor on the Road: The Blue Jays are 0-6 this season on the road.

Next Games: Manor hosts the Knights for an ESAC home doubleheader on Monday, April 29 at 1 p.m. at Roslyn Park in Abington, Pennsylvania.  These will be the Blue Jays' final 2024 home games.

Next Road Game: The Blue Jays travel to play the Bucks County Community College Centurions (7-18, 7-6 as of April 28) for an ESAC road game in its regular season finale on Saturday, May 4 at Noon in Newtown, Pennsylvania.
