MANOR COLLEGE BASEBALL LOSES GAME TWO OF AN ESAC HOME DOUBLEHEADER VERSUS BUCKS COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE

ABINGTON, PA—United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Bucks County Community College (6-18 overall, 6-6 Eastern States Athletic Conference) scored runs in all of the innings they batted, as the Centurions defeated the Manor College Blue Jays (1-10, 0-7) in game two of a doubleheader, 21-4, in five innings, at Roslyn Park.

Bucks County sent 11 batters to the plate and scored nine runs in the first.  The Centurions scored two in the second.  They sent 10 batters to hit in the third and scored seven.  They scored two in the fourth and one in the fifth.

Manor scored its runs on a pair of two-run home runs.  In the first inning, senior first baseman Eddie Fortescue Jr (Blue Bell, PA/Wissahickon) drew a two-out walk off of freshman starting pitcher Joey Ruggiero.  Freshman catcher Anthony Ortiz (Philadelphia, PA/Franklin Towne Charter) hit an inside-the-park home run to left field, scoring Fortescue Jr.  In the fourth, Ortiz reached on a one-out single to freshman center fielder Connor Saulino.  Freshman center fielder Jimmy Garcia (Philadelphia, PA/Community Academy of Philadelphia) hit an inside-the-park home run to left, scoring Ortiz.

Batting Leaders: Ortiz had two hits (including a home run), scored two runs, and knocked in two runs.  Garcia contributed two RBI for the Blue Jays.

Freshman right fielder-shortstop Milo Condran led both teams with three hits and four runs scored.  He also contributed two RBI.  Freshman catcher-second baseman Evan Hill had two hits (including a triple) and led both teams with four RBI.  Ruggiero paced both teams with four walks.  Freshman left fielder Alex Fantaskey contributed two hits (including an inside-the-park home run) and scored three runs.  He shared the team lead with Saulino with three RBI.  Sophomore shortstop Cameron Visconto scored two runs and knocked in another two.  Freshman first baseman Evan Urglavitch walked twice and scored two runs.

Pitching Leaders: Ruggiero (1-1) pitched his first complete game of the season, striking out five, allowing five hits and one walk. 

Season Series: Manor is 1-4 overall versus Bucks County (0-2 at home).

Manor at Home: The Blue Jays are 1-6 overall this season at home (0-2 at Roslyn Park).

Next Games: The Blue Jays travel to play the Central Pennsylvania College Knights (14-11, 6-2 as of April 23) for an ESAC road doubleheader on Sunday, April 28 at 1 p.m. at East Pennsboro High School in Enola, Pennsylvania

Next Home Games: Manor hosts the Knights for an ESAC home doubleheader on Monday, April 29 at 3 p.m. at Roslyn Park in Abington, Pennsylvania.  These will be the final Blue Jays' 2024 home games.
