MANOR COLLEGE BASEBALL LOSES GAME TWO OF AN ESAC DOUBLEHEADER VERSUS WILLIAMSON COLLEGE OF THE TRADES

MEDIA, PA—United States Collegiate Athletic Association Williamson College of the Trades (8-3 overall, 4-1 Eastern States Athletic Conference) scored runs in six of the seven innings they batted, as the Mechanics defeated the Manor College Blue Jays (1-4, 0-3) in game two of a doubleheader.

This was originally a doubleheader scheduled for April 6 to be played at Roslyn Park in Abington, Pennsylvania.  This rescheduled doubleheader was played at Williamson College of the Trades and Manor was the home team for both games.

Williamson scored in the top of the first inning on a senior first baseman Joe Kelly two-out ground out to first, scoring junior center fielder Joshua Illing, and senior designated hitter Dylan Marantino two-out RBI single to center scoring junior shortstop Cody Grande.  Manor cut the lead in half in the bottom of the inning.  Freshman left fielder Yerlad Duran (Philadelphia, PA/Abraham Lincoln) led off with a walk versus senior starting pitcher Kyle Marshall and stole second.  Freshman center fielder Jimmy Garcia (Philadelphia, PA/Community Academy of Philadelphia) walked.  Senior third baseman Eddie Fortescue Jr's (Blue Bell, PA/Wissahickon) fly ball out to Illing advanced Duran to third.  Garcia stole second and Duran stole home, scoring the Blue Jays' first run with one out.

The Mechanics increased their lead to 4-1 on none-out run scoring singles by freshman left fielder Michael Krakovitz (scoring freshman third baseman Zachary Ladislaw) and freshman second baseman Jacob Naumann (scoring Krakovitz).  The Blue Jays cut the lead in half again in the bottom half.  Freshman second baseman Imanol Moronta (Philadelphia, PA/Community Academy of Philadelphia) led off with a hit by pitch and advanced to second on a Marshall wild pitch.  Freshman first baseman Christopher Colella (Philadelphia, PA/Bishop McDevitt) advanced Moronta to third on a ground out, Grande to Kelly.  Sophomore right fielder Jacob Torres' (Mays Landing, NJ/Cedar Creek) one-out single to Krakovitz, scored Moronta. 

Williamson batted around in the fourth and fifth, scoring four runs in each inning.  Manor scored twice in the bottom half of the fifth.  Fortescue Jr led off with a walk off of Marshall and advanced to second on a wild pitch and to third on another.  Freshman catcher Anthony Ortiz (Philadelphia, PA/Franklin Towne Charter) walked, knocking Marshall out of the game and junior relief pitcher Ivan Bienkowski entered the game.  Ortiz stole second.  Freshman shortstop Juan Regalado's (Philadelphia, PA) one-out sacrifice fly to Illing scored Fortescue Jr.  Ortiz advanced to third on a Bienkowski wild pitch.  Freshman starting pitcher-second baseman Almanie Reyes Torres (Philadelphia, PA/Abraham Lincoln) walked.  Moronta's one-out infield single to Grande scored Ortiz.

The Mechanics added a run in the sixth and sent 10 batters to hit in the seventh, scoring six runs.

Batting Leaders: Duran walked twice and stole two bases.  Garcia also stole two bases for the Blue Jays.

Neumann had two hits (including a double) and knocked in three runs.  Illing walked twice and scored three runs.  Grande had two hits (including a home run), scored three times, and five RBI.  Kelly contributed two hits, scored two runs, and three RBI.  Marantino had three hits and three RBI  for the Mechanics. Junior right fielder Christian Knaus contributed two hits.  Ladislaw walked twice and scored two runs.  Krakovitz had two hits, stole two bases, and scored four times.  Freshman catcher Shane McLaughlin walked three times and scored three runs the Mechanics.

Pitching Leaders: Marshall (3-0) struck out five in four innings and allowed two hits.  Bienkowski and freshman Aiden McHugh combined to pitch three scoreless innings in relief, striking out six and allowing two hits and two walks for Williamson. 

Season Series: Manor is 1-3 overall versus Williamson (0-2 at home).

Manor at home: The Blue Jays are 1-1 this season at home.

Next Game: Manor hosts the Patrick Henry College Sentinels for a doubleheader on Saturday, April 13 at 1 p.m. at Alverthorpe Park in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania.  This doubleheader was rescheduled from March 23 due to rain. This is also the first meeting between the two schools.
