MANOR’S VEGA VOTED TO 2019 ALL-EPAC BASEBALL TEAM

BLUE BELL, PA—Manor College (5-20 Overall, 3-12 Region XIX Division III, 2-6 EPAC) freshman center fielder Shawn Vega (Philadelphia, PA/Olney Charter) has been voted to the 2019 All-Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (EPAC) Team as announced by the league office.

He becomes the second Blue Jay baseball player in school history with a postseason honor.  Shortstop Jose Romero (Philadelphia, PA/Frankford) was voted to the 2018 All-EPAC Team

Vega led Manor with a 0.452 and 0.541 on-base percentage in eight EPAC games (all starts). He also paced the Blue Jays in EPAC contests with 37 plate appearances, 31 at-bats, 14 runs scored, 14 hits, and six walks.

Overall, Vega played in 25 games (all starts) and paced the Blue Jays with 93 at-bats and 26 runs scored.  He shared the team lead with Romero with 105 plate appearances.  Vega was second to Romero in stolen bases (10) and attempts (14).  He was among team leaders in hits (33), singles (29), RBI (15), walks (10), batting average (0.355), on-base percentage (0.419), and slugging percentage (0.419).  Vega also reached base safely in 21 of 25 games.  His nine-game hitting streak between March 30 (game one of a doubleheader) and April 18 is Manor's longest of the season.

Vega is a Sports and Recreation Management Major.
