MANOR LOSES GAME TWO OF A DOUBLEHEADER BY MONTGOMERY COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE

BLUE BELL, PA—Region XIX Division III Montgomery County Community College (11-14 Overall, 5-8 Region XIX Division III, 4-4 EPAC) freshman Mike Kelly went two-for-four with four runs scored, two RBI, two walks, and a stolen base as the Mustangs defeated the Manor College Blue Jays (5-19, 3-9, 2-6), 15-4, in game two of a doubleheader.

The Mustangs scored nine runs in the first, including four with two out.  The first six hitters reached safely and 15 batters appeared in the inning.  They also scored twice in the second. One of the second inning runs was scored on a freshman right fielder Elias Gehman two-out sacrifice fly.

Manor scored its first run in the third.  Freshman center fielder Shawn Vega (Philadelphia, PA/Olney Charter) led off with an infield single versus sophomore starting pitcher Matt Ahmad.  Ahmad's wild pitch advanced Vega to second.  Sophomore right fielder Cristian Diaz' (Philadelphia, PA/Franklin Towne Charter) single to left scored Vega.

Montgomery County scored once in the fourth on a one-out single by sophomore left fielder Logan Curley.

The Blue Jays scored three runs in the fifth.  Sophomore second baseman Abdur Mujahid (Philadelphia, PA/Boys Latin) singled and moved to second when Vega reached on sophomore Luke DeLeo's fielding error.  Romero's single to left scored Mujahid and advanced Vega to second.  Mujahid and Vega moved up a base each on an Ahmad wild pitch.  Sophomore shortstop Jose Romero's (Philadelphia, PA/Frankford) ground out to short scored Mujahid and advanced Vega to third.  Sophomore first baseman Hector Morales (Philadelphia, PA/Esperanza Charter) singled to left with one out.  Diaz hit a two-run home run to left, his third of the season.

The Mustangs finished off its scoring in the sixth, scoring three runs, and batted around in the inning.  One of the runs was scored on a freshman first baseman Frankie Ramirez two-out RBI single.

Batting Leaders: Diaz and Morales each went two-for-four.  Diaz knocked in three runs.  Mujahid went two-for-three for the Blue Jays.

Ramirez went three-for-five.  Freshman second baseman Nate O'Donnell walked twice and scored two runs.  Ahmad and freshman catcher Nate Templeton also walked twice.  Sophomore left fielder Logan Curley, DeLeo, and freshman shortstop Colt Narciso scored two runs each.  Gehman contributed four RBI for the Mustangs.

Pitching Leaders: Freshman Yadier Cedeno (Philadelphia, PA/Olney Charter) (0-7) started the game.  Freshman Eddie Colon (Philadelphia, PA/Olney Charter) and sophomore Sauriel Baez (Philadelphia, PA/Esperanza Charter) pitched in relief for the Blue Jays.

Ahmad started the game.  Freshman Eric Boyer and DeLeo pitched in relief for the Mustangs.

Next Game: Manor travels to play Region XIX Division III Camden County College on Thursday, May 2 in Blackwood, New Jersey at 3:30 p.m.  This is the first meeting between the two schools.
