MANOR BLANKED BY COUNTY COLLEGE OF MORRIS IN NON-CONFERENCE MATCH-UP

JENKINTOWN, PA—Four Region XIX Division II County College of Morris pitchers (29-14) combined to allow five singles, while striking out eight and walking none as the Cougars shut out the Manor College Blue Jays (5-17), 19-0, in a non-conference game, at the Abington Friends School.

Morris began the scoring with five runs in the top of first and sent 11 hitters (including the first six batters in the lineup to reach base) to bat in the first inning.   Run-scoring plays included a none-out, RBI single by freshman designated hitter Nate Miller, one-out RBI ground out by freshman shortstop Jared Vuz, and a two-out, two-run single by freshman catcher Connor Sullivan.

The Titans scored in the second on a one-out home run by freshman first baseman Vincent DiNicola.

Morris batted around in the fourth, scoring four times.  Freshman left fielder Josue Fernandez contributed a one-out RBI single.  Sullivan added a two-out, sacrifice fly.

Morris scored three runs in the fifth on a one-out, three-run home run by Miller.

The Titans batted around in the seventh, scoring five runs.  Vuz hit a none-out, two-run home run and sophomore pinch-hitter Vincent Montone cleared the bases with two-out triple.

Batting Leaders: Sophomore shortstop Jose Romero (Philadelphia, PA/Frankford) and Alex Bautista's (Philadelphia, PA/Swenson Arts & Technology) freshman Alex Bautista each went two-for-three.  Romero also stole a base for the Blue Jays.

Freshman second baseman Josh Roberts walked three times and scored three runs.  Hall contributed two hits.  DiNicola walked twice, knocked in two runs, and scored three runs. Miller contributed two hits, scored three runs and had five RBI.  Vuz had three hits and added four RBI.  Sullivan contributed two hits and three RBI.  Schulte added two hits.  Montone knocked in three runs.

Pitching Leaders: Freshman Yadier Cedeno (Philadelphia, PA/Olney Charter) (0-6) started the game.  Sophomore Abdur Mujahid (Philadelphia, PA/Boys Latin) and freshman Eddie Colon (Philadelphia, PA/Olney Charter) pitched in relief for the Blue Jays.

Freshman Vincent DeSantis (3-3) started the game for the Titans, pitching the first four innings.  Sophomores Jake Hall and Luke Schulte and freshman Robert Vazquez Jr pitched an inning each.

Next Game: Manor hosts Region XIX Division III Middlesex County College on Friday, April 26 Lighthouse Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at Noon.  The Blue Jays split its season series last season, winning game one of a doubleheader, 10-4, and, lost game two, 12-0, in five innings, on March 27, 2018 in Edison, New Jersey.  This is a make-up game from March 24, 2019.
