MANOR SETS SCHOOL SINGLE-GAME RECORD IN RUNS SCORED IN GAME ONE VICTORY AT BUCKS COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE

NEWTOWN, PA—Manor College (5-14 Overall, 3-6 Region XIX Division III, 2-3 EPAC) set multiple offensive team single-game records as the Blue Jays defeated the Bucks County Community College Centurions (4-14, 2-6, 1-3), 19-8, in game one of a doubleheader.

The Blue Jays set the following school single-game offensive records: runs scored (19), at-bats (41), hits (20), doubles (seven), extra-base hits (eight), total bases (30), and RBI (17).

Manor scored six runs in the first and sent 10 batters to the plate in the inning.  Freshman center fielder Shawn Vega (Philadelphia, PA/Olney Charter) led off the game with a walk off of freshman starting pitcher Edmund Parry (0-1).  Vega stole second.  Sophomore first baseman Hector Morales (Philadelphia, PA/Esperanza Charter) one-out single to left scored Vega.  Sophomores Cristian Diaz (right fielder) (Philadelphia, PA/Franklin Towne Charter) and Sauriel Baez (designated hitter)(Philadelphia, PA/Esperanza Charter) walked to load the bases.  Sophomore catcher Abimael Mercado was hit by a pitch which scored Morales and reloaded the bases.  Freshman third baseman Eddie Colon (Philadelphia, PA/Olney Charter) cleared the bases with a one-out, double to left and knocked Parry out of the game.  Parry was replaced by sophomore Danial McNamee.  Freshman left fielder Alex Bautista (Philadelphia, PA/Swenson Arts & Technology) reached on a bunt single to the pitcher and Colon advanced to third.  Bautista and Colon pulled off a double steal with Bautista stealing second and Colon stealing home for the sixth run of the inning.

The Blue Jays added to its lead in the second, scoring seven times, on seven hits, and sent 11 hitters to bat in the inning.  Romero led off with a single to left.  Morales' none-out double to center scored Romero.  Baez' reached second with one out on a sophomore third baseman Matthew Bound fielding and throwing error.  Morales scored on Bound's throwing error.  Mercado's double to center scored Baez.  Colon's double to center scored Mercado.  Sophomore second baseman Abdur Mujahid (Philadelphia, PA/Boys Latin) two-out single to right advanced Colon to third.  Vega's double to left scored Colon and moved Mujahid to third.  Romero came up for the second time in the inning and his single to left scored Mujahid.  McNameee was then replaced by freshman Shawn Puskar.  Manor led 13-0 after 1 ½ innings.

Bucks County scored its first run in the second on a freshman left fielder Paul DePompeo's one-out single to center.  They scored in the third on first baseman William Uphoff's two-out RBI single to center.

The Blue Jays scored four in the fourth on six hits and batted around in the inning.  Colon led off with a double to left, his third of the game, and scored on Bautista's single to center.  Bautista stole second and advanced to third on Vega's infield single to third.  Romero's single to center scored Bautista and moved Vega to second.  Morales' two-out fly out to center advanced Vega to third.  Diaz' single to right scored Vega and moved Romero to third.  Baez' single, which deflected off of the shortstop and went to center, scored Romero on the play.  Manor led 17-2 after 4 ½ innings.

The Centurions scored once in the fifth on a two-out Uphoff sacrifice fly to center.

Manor closed out its scoring with two runs in the sixth.  Romero single to center with one-out was his fourth hit of the game.  Diaz' two-out home run to left, his second of the season, scored Romero.  The Blue Jays led 17-3 after 5 ½ innings.

Bucks County scored once in the sixth on a freshman center fielder Justin Ward one-out bases loaded walk.  They closed out the scoring four times in the seventh and sent 10 batters to hit in the inning.  Sophomore first baseman Brendan Jordan contributed a none-out, RBI double to left.  Ward cleared the bases with a two-out, three-run triple to right.  Freshman Yadier Cedeno (Philadelphia, PA/Olney Charter) struck out sophomore pinch-hitter Jeffrey Long swinging to end the game

Batting Leaders: Vega went two-for-five (including a double) with three runs scored, a walk, stolen base, and a RBI.  Romero went four-for-five with three runs scored and three RBI.  Morales went two-for-five (including a double), with two runs scored and two RBI.  Diaz went two-for-four with three RBI and two runs scored.  Baez singled, walked, knocked in a run, and scored twice.  Mercado went two-for-four (including a double) with two runs scored and two RBI.  Colon contributed four doubles in five at-bats with four RBI, three runs scored, and a stolen base.  Bautista went two-for-five with a run scored and a RBI and two stolen bases.  Mujahid singled and scored a run for the Blue Jays.

Ward went two-for-four (including a triple) with four RBI.  Freshman shortstop Evan Matthews walked twice.  Uphoff contributed two RBI.  Freshman catcher Noah Ruiz scored two runs.  Freshman right fielder Kenneth Brough went two-for-two for the Centurions.

Pitching Leaders: Freshman Briant Loya (Philadelphia, PA/Parkway Center City) (3-2) started the game pitching 6 1/3 innings.  Cedeno finished the contest for the Blue Jays.

Parry started the game and McNameee followed him.  Puskar finished the game for the Centurions.
