MANOR DEFEATED IN GAME TWO OF A DOUBLEHEADER BY UNION COUNTY COLLEGE

ROSELLE, NJ—Union County College (8-14 Overall, 3-4 Region XIX Division III) sophomore center fielder Calvin Colon went three-for-three with five stolen bases and three runs scored as the Owls defeated the Manor College Blue Jays (3-11, 1-4) in game two of a doubleheader, 15-5, in six innings, at Warinanco Park. 

Manor scored its runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings.

The Owls scored three in the first and four in the second.  They batted around in the fifth, scoring three runs.  Union County closed out its scoring in the sixth, scoring five runs, sending ten hitters to bat in the inning.

Batting Leaders: Sophomore shortstop Jose Romero (Philadelphia, PA/Frankford) went two-for-four with a stolen base.  Sophomore catcher Abimael Mercado (Philadelphia, PA/Juan Ponce De Leon [PR]) walked twice and scored two runs.  Sophomore right fielder Cristian Diaz (Philadelphia, PA/Franklin Towne Charter) walked twice, doubled, and scored a run.

Freshman second baseman Carlos Marte went two-for-two (including a home run), stole two bases, two runs scored, and four RBI.  Sophomore left fielder Raymond Orta walked twice, scored two runs, and contributed two RBI.  Freshman first baseman Javier Alfonso walked twice and had two RBI.  Freshman right fielder James Liburd walked and scored twice.  Freshman Kevin Pagan went two-for-four (including a double).

Pitching Leaders: Sophomore Sauriel Baez (1-1) (Philadelphia, PA/Esperanza Charter) started the game, striking out five in five innings.  Freshman Yadier Cedeno (Philadelphia, PA/Olney Charter) finished the game in relief for the Blue Jays.

Freshman Quincy Bryant (1-2) started the game for Union County, striking out four in 5 1/3 innings.  Alfonso finished the game in relief.

Next Game: Manor plays NJCAA Region XIX Division II County College of Morris Titans on Thursday, April 4 in Randolph, New Jersey at 4:00 p.m.  The Blue Jays were swept by the Titans on April 21, 2018 in Randolph, New Jersey, 18-6 and 13-2.
