MANOR’S ROMERO VOTED TO 2018 ALL-EPAC BASEBALL TEAM

SCHNECKSVILLE, PA—Manor College (2-21 Overall, 1-15 Region XIX Division III, 0-8 EPAC) freshman shortstop Jose Romero (Philadelphia, PA/Frankford) has been voted to the 2018 All-Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (EPAC) Team as announced by the league office.

He becomes the first Blue Jay baseball player in school history with a postseason honor.

Romero hit 0.382 (13/34, including one double) in eight EPAC games with nine runs scored, six RBI, four stolen bases, and three walks.  He also pitched twice (one start), throwing 12 1/3 innings, while striking out nine.

Overall, Romero led Manor with a 0.378 batting average and a 0.489 slugging percentages.  He also paced the Blue Jays with 90 at-bats, 34 hits, (including a team-best 44 total bases and 25 singles), 26 runs scored, 14 RBI, nine extra-base hits (including a squad-best eight doubles and one triple).  Romero shared the team lead with 12 stolen bases.  He was second on the squad with 100 plate appearances.  Romero was among team leaders with a 0.440 on-base percentage.

He also made four appearances as a pitcher (two starts), throwing 20 1/3 innings, striking out 15.

Romero played at least one game at first, second, and third base.  He also played at least one game in left and center field and designated hitter.

Romero became the first Manor baseball player in school history to earn an in-season award when he was named EPAC Athlete of the Week for the period March 26 through April 1, 2018.
