MANOR DEFEATED IN GAME TWO OF DOUBLEHEADER BY VALLEY FORGE MILITARY COLLEGE

WAYNE, PA— NJCAA Division II Valley Forge Military College (13-16) sophomore center fielder Bryen Kimbrough went four-for-five (including two doubles), with two runs scored, a RBI, and three stolen bases as the Trojans defeated the Manor College Blue Jays (2-17), 14-2, in game two of a double header.

The Trojans scored in the first five innings.  They opened the scoring with three in the bottom of the first.  Two of the runs scored came on consecutive none-out, RBI singles by freshman third baseman Jan Reyes and sophomore right fielder Francisco Morales Sierra.

Manor answered in the top of the second.  Freshman left fielder-center fielder Trevor Schmanek (Philadelphia, PA/St. Joseph's Prep) singled to center with one out off of freshman starting pitcher Shawn Smith.  Freshman catcher Samuel Pena (Philadelphia, PA/Liceo Vespertino Pedro MIR [DR]) followed with a two-run home run to left, scoring Schmanek.  Valley Forge Military scored two in the second, including on a Kimbrough none-out double to left.

The Trojans scored one in the third on a freshman shortstop Milton Del Valle Rosario's two-out, RBI single to left.  Valley Forge Military added to its lead, scoring five runs in the fourth.  Two of the runs were scored on a none-out, RBI double to center by Reyes and sophomore designated hitter Nick Crane's none-out, RBI single to right.  The Trojans scored three runs in the fifth on RBI singles by Reyes (one out), Crane (two), and freshman catcher Bryen Figueroa (two).

Batting Leaders: Schmanek went two-for-three with a run scored. Pena contributed two RBI and a run scored for the Blue Jays.

Reyes went three-for-five (including a double) with three RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base.  Crane went two-for-three with two runs and two RBI.  Morales Sierra contributed two hits.  Freshman left fielder Javier Rodriguez scored three runs, stole three bases, and walked twice.  Freshman first baseman-relief pitcher Chris Manns scored two runs, walked twice, and stole three bases for the Trojans.

Pitching Leaders: Smith pitched five innings, striking out six, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk for Valley Forge Military.

Next Game: Manor hosts NJCAA Division and EPAC Division III Delaware County Community College on Friday, May 4 at 3:30 p.m. at the Abington Friends School in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania.  The Phantoms won the previous matchup, 20-13, on Thursday, April 18 in Media, Pennsylvania.

Next Road Game: Manor plays the NJCAA Division and EPAC Division III Luzerne County Community College Trailblazers on Saturday, May 5 in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania at 1:00 p.m.  The Trailblazers won the previous matchup, 19-7, in seven innings, on Saturday, March 31 at the Abington Friends School in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania.
