MANOR DEFEATED BY MONTGOMERY COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE

BLUE BELL, PA— Montgomery Community College (9-12 Overall, 4-7 Region XIX Division III, 3-2 EPAC) freshman left fielder Logan Curley went two-for-three (including a double), with three runs scored and two RBI as the Mustangs defeated the Manor College Blue Jays (2-15, 1-12, 0-6), 12-3.

The Mustangs scored single runs in the bottom of the second and third innings.  Freshman second baseman Adrian Grow had a two-out RBI single to center in the second and sophomore third baseman Aaron Benner contributed a RBI ground out with two out in the third.  Montgomery County sent 10 batters to the plate, scoring five two-out runs.  Curley had a two-run single to left and sophomore catcher Will Brownlowe added a RBI single to left.

Manor scored its runs in the top of the fifth.  Freshman left fielder Courtney Maddox-Kent (Philadelphia, PA/Edison) singled to left with one out off of freshman starting pitcher Alex Bernhard.  Freshman right fielder-relief pitcher Yorkis German (Philadelphia, PA/Kensington Health and Science) was hit by a pitch which advanced Maddox-Kent to second.  Freshman shortstop-third baseman Jose Romero (Philadelphia, PA/Frankford) two-out single to center, scored Maddox-Kent.  On the play, freshman shortstop-relief pitcher Luke Deleo's throwing error allowed German to score.  Deleo's error also allowed Romero to move to third.  Freshman designated hitter Sauriel Baez' (Philadelphia, PA/Esperanza Charter) single to right scored Romero.

Montgomery County added to its lead, scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh.  Deleo contributed a one-out, two-run double to right and Brownlowe added a two-out sacrifice fly to right.  The Mustangs closed out its scoring with two runs in the eighth.  Freshman center fielder Ron Faunsaught knocked in one of the runs with a two-out, RBI single.

Batting Leaders: Three Blue Jays had multi-hit games.  Baez, Maddox-Kent, and Morales each went two-for-three.  Baez contributed a RBI and a walk.  Morales doubled and had a walk, and Maddox-Kent scored a run.

Brownlowe went two-for-three (including a double) with a run scored, two RBI (including a sacrifice fly), and a walk.  Faunsaught scored twice, stole two bases, knocked in a run, and had a walk.  Grow had two hits and a RBI.  Bernhard scored two runs and Deleo had two RBI.

Pitching Leaders: Bernhard pitched five innings for the Mustangs.  Sophomore relief pitcher Paul Mudrick struck out three in three innings.

Next Game: Manor plays the NJCAA Division II Valley Forge Military College Trojans on Sunday, April 29 in a doubleheader in Wayne, Pennsylvania.  First game is at Noon.
