MANOR LOSES SECOND GAME OF DOUBLEHEADER AT COUNTY COLLEGE OF MORRIS

RANDOLPH, NJ—NJCAA Region XIX Division II County College of Morris (13-17) freshman designated hitter Jake Hall went two-for-four (including a double), with a run scored and three RBI as the Titans defeated the Manor College Blue Jays (2-14), 13-2, in game two of a doubleheader.

Morris scored runs in the first five innings.  The Titans opened the scoring in the bottom of the first on a sophomore left fielder Jack Peterson none-out, two-run home run to left.  Morris doubled its lead in the bottom of the second on a sophomore second baseman Dany Perez one-out, two-run home run to left.  The Titans added to its lead in the bottom of the third on a sophomore catcher Jonathan Biale two-out, RBI single to center.

Manor got on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth.  Freshman designated hitter Jose Romero (Philadelphia, PA/Frankford) led off with a single to right off of freshman starting pitcher Charles Betz.  Freshman second baseman Hector Morales (Philadelphia, PA/Esperanza Charter) was hit a pitch and Romero advanced to second.  Freshman catcher Abimael Mercado (Philadelphia, PA/Juan Ponce De Leon [PR]) walked to load the bases with none out.  Freshman center fielder Trevor Schmanek (Philadelphia, PA/St. Joseph's Prep) double to center, scoring Romero and Morales.  Morris answered in the bottom of the fourth, sending 11 batters to the plate, and scored six times.  Peterson had a none-out, two RBI single to center.  Hall added a one-out, RBI single to center and freshman designated hitter David Veras followed with a two RBI single to center.  Freshman center fielder Chris Flynn contributed a two-out, RBI infield single to first. 

The Titans completed its scoring in the bottom of the fifth on a Hall one-out, two-run double to left.

Batting Leaders: Romero went two-for-four with a run scored.  Schmanek knocked in two runs.  Freshman shortstop Abdur-Rauf Mujahid (Philadelphia, PA/Boys Latin) walked twice for the Blue Jays.

Peterson went two-for-two (including a home run), scored twice and knocked in four.  Veras went two-for-three (including a double) with two runs scored and two RBI.  Freshman shortstop Justin Ayala went two-for-three (both hits were doubles) and scored twice.  Biale was also two-for-three.  He had a run scored and a RBI.  Perez contributed two RBI for the Titans.

Pitching Leaders: Lynch (1-1) pitched five innings and striking out five and allowed two runs on three hits for Morris.

Next Game: Manor plays NJCAA Division and EPAC Division III Montgomery Community College on Thursday, April 26 at 3:30 p.m. in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania.  The Mustangs won the previous matchup, 9-7, on Thursday, March 29, spoiling the Blue Jays' home opener at the Abington Friends School in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania.
