MANOR DEFEATED AT HOME BY LEHIGH CARBON COMMUNITY COLLEGE

JENKINTOWN, PA—Lehigh Carbon Community College (8-12 Overall, 4-2 NJCAA Region XIX Division III, 3-1 EPAC) freshman first baseman Brett Foulke went two-for-three (including a triple and home run) two walks and five RBI as the Cougars defeated the Manor College Blue Jays (2-12, 1-11, 0-5), 9-3, at the Abington Friends School.

Manor president Jonathan Peri threw out the first pitch to freshman catcher Hector Morales (Philadelphia, PA/Esperanza Charter) before the start of the game.

Lehigh Carbon scored twice in the top of the second inning on freshman second baseman Derek Joyce's two-out, two-run double to center which scored freshman third baseman Collin Haupt and Foulke.  The Cougars scored two more two-out runs in the top of the third on consecutive bases loaded walks by freshman shortstop Ruben Rodriguez and Foulke which scored freshman left fielder Jeison Peralta and Rodriguez, respectively.  Lehigh Carbon scored two in the top of the fifth on Foulke's two-out, two-run triple to center which scored Haupt and Rodriguez.

Manor scored its runs in the fifth and seventh.  Freshman third baseman-shortstop Sauriel Baez (Philadelphia, PA/Esperanza Charter) led off the bottom of the fifth with a single to left off of sophomore starting pitcher Elias Gabel-Tripp.  Morales followed with a double to left which advanced Baez to third.  Starting pitcher Nicholas Herrera (Philadelphia, PA / Frankford) ground out to Rodriguez scored Baez with one out.  Freshman left fielder Yorkis German (Philadelphia, PA/Kensington Health and Science) led off the bottom of the seventh with a single to center off of relief pitcher Toby Sander.  Baez followed with a single to center which moved German to third.  Morales ground out to Rodriguez scored with German with one out which advanced Morales to third.  Herrera also grounded out to Rodriguez which scored Morales with two out.

The Cougars scored in the top of the ninth on a two-out, three-run home run to left by Foulke which scored Peralta and Rodriguez. 

Batting Leaders: Freshman infielder-relief pitcher Abdur-Rauf Mujahid (Philadelphia, PA/Boys Latin) went three-for-four with a walk and stolen base.  Baez and Romero contributed two hits each.  Baez also scored two runs and stole a base.

Rodriguez knocked in three runs, scored twice, walked twice, and stole a base.  Haupt and Peralta scored two runs each for Lehigh Carbon.

Pitching Leaders: Herrera (1-3) pitched six innings, striking out six.  Mujahid struck out three in three innings of relief.

Gabel-Tripp (2-4) pitched six innings for the victory, allowing one run on nine hits, and striking out seven for Lehigh Carbon.  Freshman relief pitcher Vince Rongione pitched the final two innings for the save.

Next Game: Manor plays the NJCAA Division II County College of Morris Titans (12-17) in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 21 in Randolph, New Jersey.  First game is at Noon.

Next Home Game: Manor hosts NJCAA Division and EPAC Division III Delaware County Community College on Friday, May 4 at 3:30 p.m. the Abington Friends School in Jenkintown Pennsylvania.  The Phantoms won the previous match-up, 20-13, on Wednesday, April 18, in Media, Pennsylvania.  This is the final regular season home game.
