MANOR COLLEGE MEN’S SOCCER LOSES TO ESAC FOE BUCKS COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE IN ESAC NATIONALLY-RANKED MATCH-UP

NEWTOWN, PA—Bucks County Community College (8-6-0 overall, 4-1-0 Eastern States Athletic Conference) forward Jaden Haig scored two goals and added an assists as the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Division II 10th-ranked Centurions defeat the USCAA Division I fifth-ranked Manor College Blue Jays (8-2-1, 3-1-1), 5-2.

Bucks County opened the scoring early the first half when Haig's pass went to freshman forward Patrick McHenry on the left side inside the 18-yard line.  McHenry's shot went into right side of the net (2:36).  The Centurions scored when Haig's shot from the middle of the 18 went into the right side of the net (29:41).  Bucks County outshot Manor in the first half, 10 (six on goal) to seven (four on goal).

Manor cur the lead in half when junior midfielder Eddie Fortescue, Jr.'s (Blue Bell, PA/Wissahickon) throw-in went to junior midfielder Rodrigo Zurita (Norristown, PA/Norristown). Zurita's shot went off of the goalkeeper and Fortescue Jr.'s rebound went into the right side of the net for his 14th goal of the season (48:20).  Following a Blue Jay foul inside the 18, sophomore midfielder Gabriel Miera's penalty kick went off of the goalkeeper and kicked his rebound into the middle of the net (63:53).  Bucks County added to its lead when Haig's shot from inside the 18 went into the middle of the net for his second goal of the match ((66:52).  The Blue Jays cut the lead in half again when Fortescue Jr's thrown-in went to freshman midfielder/defenseman Saw Htoo (Philadelphia, PA/Mastery Charter) inside the 18.  Htoo's head shot went into the middle of the net (80:57).  The Centurions finished off the scoring when freshman midfielder Ronaldo Montero's shot inside the 18 went into the upper right-hand corner of the net (89:48).  Both teams had 11 overall shots apiece in the second half.  The Centurions had 10 shots on goal and the Blue Jays had five.  Bucks County outshot Manor, 21 (12 on goal) to 18 (11 on goal) for the match.

Eddie Fortescue Jr.'s Scoring Feats: Fortescue Jr.  has scored a goal in 10 matches this season which is the most by a Manor player since Mark Colville in 2013 (13).  Dating back to the 2021 season, he has scored a point in 13 of the last 14 matches.  This is the most by a Blue Jay since Colville in 2012 (15).  Fortescue Jr. has 12 multiple-point matches in the last 14. This is most by a Manor player since Colville had 11 straight in 2013.  He is also the first Blue Jay with 10 goals in a season since Zola Makanda in 2017.  His 14 goals in a season are the most since Colville scored 23 in 2013.  Fortescue Jr. is the first Blue Jay with 30 or points in a season since Colville contributed 68 in 2013.

Series Record (Since 2008): The Blue Jays are 5-7-0 overall (2-5-0 on the road) versus the Centurions since 2008.  Manor last won at Bucks County, 3-1, on October 15, 2016.

Next Match: Manor hosts NJCAA Region XIX Division III Lehigh Carbon Community College (3-10-3 through October 18) on Saturday, October 22 at Noon in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania.  The Blue Jays are 7-0-0 overall (3-0-0 at home) versus the Cougars since 2008.   Manor defeated Lehigh Carbon in the previous overall match-up, 4-2, at Lehigh Carbon on October 12, 2019.  The Blue Jays defeated the Cougars in its previous home contest, 10-1, on October 8, 2016.
