MANOR COLLEGE MEN'S SOCCER BREAKS SERIES LOSING STREAK VERSUS ESAC FOE BUCKS COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE

JENKINTOWN, PA—Manor College (5-1-1 Overall, 2-0-1 Eastern States Athletic Conference) junior midfielder Eddie Fortescue Jr. (Blue Bell, PA/Wissahickon) scored two goals and added two assists as the Blue Jays defeated United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Division II Bucks County Community College (4-3-0, 2-1-0), 5-1.

Manor scored first on a Fortescue Jr. throw-in went to junior forward Abubakarr Bangura (Philadelphia, PA/John Bartram).  Bangura's header went to junior defenseman Gabriel Elliott (Philadelphia, PA/Frankford).  Elliott's shot went above the goalkeeper and into the middle of the net for his first goal of the season (2:01).  The Blue Jays scored off another Fortescue Jr. thrown-in.  His throw-in went to Elliott.  Elliott's head shot went into the left side of the net for his second goal of the match (10:55). This was Elliott's first collegiate multi-goal match.  Bucks County cut the lead in half when sophomore defenseman Matthew Edwards' pass went to freshman forward Patrick McHenry inside the 18-yard line.  McHenry's shot went into the right side of the net (11:37).  Manor answered when Elliott's indirect kick went to Fortescue Jr.  Fortescue Jr.'s shot went into the middle of the net for his ninth goal of the season (17:31).  The Blue Jays led at halftime, 3-1.  Manor outshot Bucks County, 18 (seven on goal) to eight (three on goal).

The Blue Jays scored when freshman goalkeeper Aiden Holman (Hamilton, NJ/Hamilton) punted to junior midfielder John Levy (Philadelphia, PA/Franklin Towne Charter) around the 18.  Levy's shot went into the middle of the net for his second goal of the season (79:28).  Manor finished off the scoring when junior midfielder Rodrigo Zurita's (Norristown, PA/Norristown) pass went to Bangura.  Bangura then passed it to Fortescue Jr. around the 18.  Fortescue Jr.'s shot went off the left post and into the net for his tenth goal of the season (82:18).  This was Fortescue Jr.'s third multi-goal match of the season.  Bucks County outshot Manor in the second half, 14 (11 on goal) to 12 (six on goal).  The Blue Jays outshot the Centurions, 30 (18 on goal) to 12 (five on goal) for the match. 

Manor's victory versus Bucks County broke a three-match overall series losing streak.  They previously defeated the Centurions on September 15, 2016 (3-1 at Manor) when both schools were in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).

Fast Start: The Blue Jays off to a 5-1-1 overall start this season.  The last time they were off to the same start was in 2018 when they qualified for the NJCAA Region XIX Division I Men's Soccer Postseason Tournament.

The Defense Rests (Again): Manor allowed one goal for the third straight match and the fifth time in seven matches this season.  They held Bucks County to its fewest goals this season.  The Centurions also scored one goal at NJCAA Region XIX Division III Rowan College South Jersey-Gloucester on August 30. 

Eddie Fortescue Jr.'s Scoring Feats: Fortescue Jr. has scored a goal in every match this season.  His seven-match goal streak is the most by a Manor player since Mark Colville in 2013 (six).  Dating back to the 2021 season, he has scored a point in 10 straight matches.  His ten-match point streak is the most by a Blue Jay since Mark Colville in 2013 (11).  He has nine multiple-point matches in the last ten.  He is the first Blue Jay with 10 goals in a season since Zola Makanda in 2017.

Series Record: The Blue Jays are 6-7-0 overall (5-2-0 at home) in the season series versus the Centurions (since 2008).

Next Match: Manor travels to play NJCAA Region XIX Division III Lehigh Carbon Community College (2-4-1 as of September 20) on Saturday, October 1 at Noon in Schnecksville, Pennsylvania.  The Blue Jays are 7-0-0 (3-0-0 on the road) versus the Cougars since 2008.  Manor won the previous overall match-up, 4-2, at Lehigh Carbon on October 12, 2019.

Next Home Match: Manor hosts NJCAA Region XIX Division III Montgomery County Community College (4-5-1 through September 29) on Tuesday, October 18 at 3:30 p.m. in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania.  The Blue Jays are 6-2-1 overall (3-0-1 at home) in the season series versus the Mustangs (since 2008).  Manor lost on the road versus Montgomery County in its previous overall match-up, 2-0, in on October 9, 2021.  The Blue Jays defeated the Mustangs in its previous home match-up, 5-1, on October 7, 2014 when Manor was in the NJCAA.
